From an electronics guy: doing any redesign that late, is the equivalent of starting from scratch. Just think of how hard it is to get a product through fcc/ce compliance. Even the smallest change voids all the certification. For making a second version that would mean funding the whole development and testing a second time.

It will be released Q4 of 2024 at a price of $899, controllers will be sold separately and be $299 each. Additionally, there will be two launch games - Shark Shark and Evel Knievel. Shark Shark will be recalled 2 weeks after lunch due to a platform killing virus in the game and the Evel Knievel estatre will sue Amico because they only had a 5 year term for the license which expired five months before the console was even released. Tommy will relocate to Greece with $28 million dollars and never be heard from again.

Fun detail you might have missed: Someone did a chart of the changes the donations had on the Startengine page. It's pathetic that after this much time, they have only raised about 50,000 dollars, over 30k of that happening on day 1, and multiple days with 0 dollars added. Amico uses so much double speak and play on words. The 2600 founders edition. That number was picked to catch the eyes of past Atari 2600 console owners. Amico is in "pre-production". That can mean just about anything. E.G. I plan on selling 100 million of my customized VR headsets....I'm currently in pre-production. (prove me wrong). The online leader board for the Amico console is in "Post-Production". Once again that can mean just about anything or any time. This is software and can not be blamed on chip shortages. This company lies more than any company in the history of video games.

Once in, like, 2003 - I was 17 or something - a friend offered me a job for the Russian branch of some European casual wear franchise. Prior buying the license for the franchise, same people was tailoring pirate versions of Wrangler jeans at some forsaken military garment factory - now the factory was the same, but the garment was legit. And they asked the 17-year-old-kids, not some agency, to make up some marketing documents for them. Conception they could sell to the resellers. And they strongly opposed the term “casual wear”. Like, they said, our main competitor is Westland (a casual wear brand), but no, we are not a casual brand. After that some discussions regarding the way they see their brand (and after reading original brand's marketing materials) I've retired myself politely, realizing that that is one troubled client, and I have nearly zero experience to make out a price that would worth the risks. Current state of the Amico project shares pretty same vibes. These garment weren't bad - but them were casual as f--k. This toy - ok, it's very bad, but it could've be fine enough for some niche, that's not the real problem here. But public delusion - is.

Listening about the problems with the Amico makes me think of the wonderful job Blaze Entertainment has done with the Evercade. They have produced a handheld and soon in the US a console! They have tapped into the collecting market and even provide “simple” games to consumers. I have it for the the retro, but the Amico is retro too! Yeah, so... by Nick's own idiot rants they haven't actually finalised their hardware or constructed an actual dev environment yet at all. That's so much worse than I'd ever anticipated. They have _nothing_ but a burning pit of money, a few Babby's First Unity Project games and a totally devalued brand. Almost four years and tens of millions of dollars in, that is ASTONISHINGLY inept. (Also, good god did that Little Mermaid comment make my skin crawl.)

I've said this previously, and I'll say it again: There is nothing remotely Christian or otherwise faith-based about even the idea of this console and games, let alone the contradictory information behind the funding and advertising of it thus so far. Their former CEO flip-flopped from being involved with violent games to complaining about violence. Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong for their competitors (Switch Lite at $200)? Wasn't there a tank game with realistic-ish tanks demoed for the Amico? It's pure marketing balderdash. They might advertise as faith-friendly in magazines, maybe certain cable networks, but beyond that, there isn't anything 'Christian' about this. What do they have to show for it?

@William Burns Is that why all the Christians I know (myself included) loath modern 'Christian' pop music? (also, I had never heard of "PureFlix" until you mentioned it--no jive). Anyway, they're a long ways off from pivoting towards their entire library of games being faith-ithized games in the vein of the Noah's Ark 3D, etc. They don't even have one such game to show for it, let alone a marketable library; and little to no funding left to even finish and launch the console and games they already have, let alone pivot, redesign the console, make a new series of games featuring faith themes, and start over from scratch. They would have to rebrand their image (such as what's even left) to such an extent they just as well not even call itself Intellivision, but Noahvision Games or something outrageous like that. That's a looooong ways off from the 51 Clubhouse/WiiPlay style of casual games they were giving the vibe of to start with three or so years ago. And even if they did, they'd have made a lot more bank publishing those games for the scores of Christians brandishing smartphones. No matter how you look at it, it just makes no sense. This is nothing more than, no pun intended, a Hail Mary to find a demographic, any demographic, to buy this thing, with no strategy to speak of to make it appealing to that audience. I just don't think they have anything, and are grasping for straws.

@William Burns There's the problem with your analogy. You don't need PureFlix to watch those movies. You can watch many of them on Amazon Prime or Netflix. PureFlix as a service exists because that audience wants nothing but those "good Christian movies" available and nothing else. The Amico already has games that the PureFlix audience would object to. Games with bombs? Gambling games? Games with realistic tanks and explosions? Nuclear destruction? Games with magic (WITCHCRAFT!)? The name "Night Stalker" would set off a "Won't someone think of the children" mom. Most PureFlix parents wouldn't want a console with such wicked content let alone one that costs $300+.

I dont feel sorry for the people that will lose money on this bc theres was never anything worth investing in. its not like they were tricked into it w/ stuff that looked amazing. it completely sucked and was irrelevant from day 1

I always thought it would be a funny idea if somebody went out and made a Homebrew machine just to say they beat Intelevision at their own game. I mean they said if the latest fundraising campaign fails (which, so far, it has) they'd only be able to go a few more months. This whole thing happening right now is a desperate attempt to get more money and failing to do so. This'll be wrapped up within the next 6 months.
