Intense Spec Miata Mayhem - 2023 Homestead SCCA Majors Race 2

What an intense race. After qualifying on the pole, I got lynched at the start and fell back to 9th with a lot of kamikaze dive bomb pass attempts. But by hitting my marks, working with friends and putting my head down I was able to move forward, and with the attrition up front I ultimately finished 4th behind Connor Zilisch, Jim Drago and Frankie Barroso. Fun start to the season!
On the motor racing front I compete in SCCA and NASA events around the USA. I race both Spec Miata (SM) and Super Touring Lite (STL) cars. My cars are prepared by OPM Autosports in Atlanta, my SM is powered by Rossini Racing Engines, my STL is powered by Nelson Racing Engines, and both cars are stopped courtesy G-Loc Brake Pads, with contingency support from Hoosier Racing Tire, Toyo Tires and Mazda Motorsports.
On the motorcycle front, I race Hare Scrambles and Dessert Off-Road Races, and do a bunch of long, multi-day trips on adventure bikes around the world.

in such a tight class, and at a track where teammates of convenience are critical to moving forward, communication is key. Not easy to do so we often resort to hand signals. Thumbsup can mean many things, and it all depends on the context:- great save, great pass, thanks for the push, lets work together, etc

Thanks EJ - yup was hoping to run up front, but as you see, it doesnt always work out the way you planned, which is what keeps us coming back week after week!

3 second gear corners per lap... 😱

Yup that's the way I do it. Many only do 2nd gear for the hairpin leading onto the oval, and run 3rd gear through T4 and T5
