I wouldn't call it slow. This car is quick. 173 horsepower per metric tonne is respectable. Compare that figure to a standard DC2 Type R.
@2K8Si4 ай бұрын
@@eternalextrapolations Oh, I have no doubts that this car makes well enough power for its weight. You're right, it not a 'slow' car, it is obviously quick, indeed... More than enough to be a thrilling and emotional experience, as demonstrated in this video. I was just quoting the usual 'slow car fast > fast car slow' ... And I absolutely agree. A setup like this rewards good car control, good driving lines and being able to use all of the power, pretty much all of the time. It's all you need. You'd never have the same type of fun in a car with stupid HP numbers, because you're always afraid of the car getting away from you.
@eternalextrapolations4 ай бұрын
@@2K8Si Yes I know what you mean. I was adding to what you were saying rather than criticizing. A 1998 Honda Integra Type R had a power to weight ratio of about 180HP per tonne, so very comparable. I have driven some slow cars in my time and many econoboxes have lifeless engines which seem deliberately hobbled and really aren't exciting to drive no matter what. Some cars however with what we think of as being low horsepower are actually equipped with performance engines. The engine and chassis need to be designed for performance, even if it's like a bantamweight runner rather than a heavyweight bruiser. Cars from 80s and 90s such as the original Golf GTi, Sirocco, Polo, Honda CRX, Civic 16i, Rover 216GTi, Metro Lotus, Kadett and Nova GSi, Fiat Strada/Ritmo Abarth, Uno Fire, Escort XR3, Renault 19, Fuego, Chamade 16v, Peugeot 205 and 309 GTi, Talbot Sunbeam ... and many more were all Hot Hatches with quite a bit less horsepower than this Skoda!
@2K8Si4 ай бұрын
@@eternalextrapolations Something else that make me chuckle, is when people scoff at FWD cars saying they're dumb, but in reality, they've never driven one that was designed around performance. Sure, RWD is still the 'preferred' setup, but they have no idea how much fun FWD can be when done right. _This car was built right_ . If Misha gives his kiss of approval, there is no better praise. Im just putting it out there. A few days ago, I was chopping it up with some old friends, reminiscing about the good ol' days. All car guys. We all used to own rides with over 600 horsepower. My 1 Series had close to 700. And we’re all still vibing on those old-school naturally aspirated BMWs. More sound, more feeling. Way slower. Nowadays, everything’s faster. Everything’s more perfect. More clicks, more horsepower, more torque, more pics, more storage, just more of everything. But it’s that imperfection that gives us joy and real feelings. The key to being happy in life is often just slowing down. Being "slower." Living more in the moment. Actually feeling it. Your face said it all. And I feel your pain from the smiling, because I do too.

Holy crap, A Skoda Felicia. I was little bit sad, to see the 1.6 VW engine under the bonnet. This cheap shitbox better with the 1.3 MPi engine with a same good tuning ability. The smile on Misha's face is priceless, when he driving these cheap shitbox cars, with a small but monster engines. :DD

I was also hoping to see the 1.3 in it

After watching the Epic and Funny clip video, this is the video I came back to find so I could watch it again! Brilliant video with a great sounding and well built car, as Misha said "AMAZING"!

Who said you need loads of power to have fun. That sound alone will make any car guy smile for days. Misha loved it in a below 200HP car. Great video Misha

Theres just something magical about old cars. No matter if stock, or tuned up. Not everybody gets it, and thats fine. But old cars have a language that I can hear :-)

V maximu je pomalá ale jede nádherně. V tom spektru otáček a rychlosti, kdy je to zábava! Super.

My parents had a blue Felicia Kombi when I was a child. Loved that car. It had a rough life being my father's working car later on but it took it's fate like a real hero. Sadly the rust took us apart. I really loved the simple design of the interior. And I loved the smell of concrete and stone dust my father brought into the car. Would have loved to give it a lap on the Nürburgring.
