Thanks for the tutorial. I had to replace the Matrox capture device I had used for years as Matrox stopped supporting it, and I am very relieved to have found a replacement in this Intensity Shuttle. You helped me get it up and running, and running perfectly so far.

I’m using HP laptop. I do broadcast using that device only 1920*720. Over that set is too much lag. Livestream on Facebook is also lag. I heard Mac can allow me to livestream output at 1920*1080, it is true?

Hi I'm trying to set up a Roland V-1HD mixer which has 1 signal from an iMac and one from a Canon Legria HF25 with no joy. I can record from the camera, but camn't get a picture direct from the mac or the Roland. I think it might be connected to HDCP, have you got any ideas? All are set up OK - 1080i 50fps form Roland, Mac and Media Express.

Know any trick to get this to work on USB 2.0? I bought it and learned they firmware locked it to USB 3.0, not something mentioned on the website. Try to find a way to salvage this rather than pay 50 bucks in shipping to send it back.

Question, if I would like to use it for two cameras using HDMI, can I use an HDMI spliter to capture both images? Thanks!
@radgadgets4114 жыл бұрын
An HDMi splitter, or pretty much any other 'splitter' (or distribution amp), doesn't work that way. You've probably found this out already. A 'Splitter', more appropriately called a DA, has 1 input and multiple outputs. It DISTRIBUTES a signal, it doesn't combine a signal. If you wanted to record 2 or more video sources simultaneously, you would use a multiviewer. This device takes several video inputs, and combines them into 1 image, say, split screen, or quad split if there are 4 input sources. Then, the output of the multiviewer is the input to your recording device or, in the case of this BM Intensity, it's the HDMI input. Also, the RCA/ cinch jacks aren't strickly 'pass-thru'. The analog video and audio input (yellow, red, white RCA connectors) is being transcoded by Intensity into a digital HDMI output, which is fed to the monitor for viewing. The USB 3.0 stream is being recorded to the MS Surface or an attached external HDD or SSD.

can it capture audio and HDMI in the same time? I want plug in a microphone on that and want the final version including my vioce
@JBProductionsFlores4 жыл бұрын
No. It only can capture from one source at one time. So if you are using HDMI then all another source are disabled. Unless your mic is plugged in from the source of your HDMI.

I'm looking at live web streaming from a Canon XF100 using a HDMI output. Is this possible with this device?
@ScreenEntertainmentAustralia158 жыл бұрын
Its possible but I wouldn't recommend it as there is no on board encoder i.e no real time h264 encoding. This means your PC will need to do the heavy lifting and may drop frames at 1080p. Intensity shuttle is built primarily for very high quality lossless capture. Blackmagic does have products that are more suited for broadcasting.
@ferguswaddell94998 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks for this. I would actually be running on a new mac book pro (2015+ edition). Would that help or would it still drop frames?
@ScreenEntertainmentAustralia158 жыл бұрын
Fergus Waddell not sure to be honest. Obs is nice free streaming software you'd just need to figure out a way to test it

Is it possible and viable to maximize the playback window and game on it?
@ScreenEntertainmentAustralia158 жыл бұрын
It is possible. OBS can use the Intensity Shuttle as a capture device similar to the way it uses webcams. You could set up OBS to capture the Shuttle turn on preview mode and full screen it for gaming. You may suffer from a little input lag though.

I've heard the opposite but no big deal, any recommendations on how to record retro consoles in 60fps? I'm cool with 360/480p but I'm stumped and I really wanted this box.
@ScreenEntertainmentAustralia158 жыл бұрын
If you're looking for a Blackmagic product specifically try the Intensity Pro 4k. I haven't used it though so I can't make any recommendations. Generally speaking if your regular use case is for capturing from a modern console it may be better to get a capture card like an elgato that is made for that sort of work in mind.

+Christian Benge drive speed is a big factor, try to get at least 100mbps write speed (search for crystaldiskmark to benchmark it) also i would recommend you record to a secondary disk (not your primary drive). all that said, ive successfully captured to my surface pro 1 which has only a single ssd, core i5 and 4gb ram.

They've changed it up quite a lot since 2014 but you still have Desktop Video Setup right? Just change the input and output to match the cables you use. It worked for me even though I didn't have that menu he has in the video.

Anyone ever used one of these with at time base corrector (when capturing from old media like VHS or something else)? If so, decent results... can you get "broadcast" quality?
@ScreenEntertainmentAustralia157 жыл бұрын
I have used it with an old Sony miniDV camera (HVR-V1E) because the firewire board crapped out. Gave just as good results as capturing via firewire. It all depends on the quality of your source. VHS is pretty low quality so I'm not sure if you can get "broadcast" quality from it.
@doveshouse7 жыл бұрын
I noticed this TBC... AVT-8710 however, it appears to only have video input not audio input which tells me the TBC must be done in "real time" with no buffer. Not sure how a good TBC can be done with no buffer i.e. no delay in the video output.

I am trying to decide if I should buy the new TBC or try to find/buy a used professional/commercial grade VCR that comes standard with TBC

I need to vent. This capture card is so damn picky. Why cant they just make it work like any modern monitor so that regardless of what signal you send to it, it will automatically pick it up. Endless blackscreens and capture programs crashing. Over and over Then it works for a brief moment. Then it doesn't. For no apparent reason. I am fed up with this capture card
@thedkwyproject63486 жыл бұрын
I bought this card specifically to capture from an old HDV miniDV cam whose firewire board had blown - only way was to hook it up via composite video. It's not really a capture card for the masses, it's designed for professionals who need extremely high quality capture - this thing can capture in 24-bit if needed and it does not process the image at all which means you can capture exactly the same quality as the source. It's main limitation is no 60fps 1080p and no 4k which is likely due to it's age - it was released a long time before 4k was popular. It's not easy to use but it has it's use cases. That said I have used it to capture from my PS4, I had to buy a hdmi splitter for a couple of dollars but it works when you know how to use it.
