Well Keith, good luck in the new shop. We have vacationed on The Cape every summer for over ten years and your current shop became a landmark for us. I always threatened to stop and say thanks for the great content in person but never wanted to interrupt your day. I will keep my eyes open for your new location and maybe one August day I will catch you in the lot. Good luck and Happy New Year. BTW, thanks for all the great content!

Keith, I expected to see Clough42 poke his hear around the corner when that music started at 23.45! A new shop, I am both envious and apprehensive; custom designing your shop when you already have the tools is a lot easier than most of us who build over time and have to keep finding homes for the new bit of kit, however, packing it all up and unpacking at the other end is not something I would like to do. Keep the vids coming.

Of course you should do videos of the shop move. Many of the lessons learned in moving your shop will benefit hundreds of viewers moving or setting up a new shop. Your knowledge, experience, and life skills will benefit your viewers, Best wishes for a successful shop relocation.

Consider for your new shop: 1 a master relay either manual or electrical that shuts off all power except lights and required always on circuits ( clock, battery chargers, machines you must manually turn off due to programming etc. ) 2 include a normally off electrical valve or manuel valve on your air line where it enters the shop so your always leaking😔 quick connects do not empty your compressor air tank over night. 3 air lines sloping back to the compressor with top taps to help with moisture control. I have always used sweated copper piping as it is versatile to install and cools the air. 4 a strobe light for phone calls if you have a land line that can also be hooked up to a door bell for customers. 5 put your rotary phase converter outside for noise protection if you need one. I have lots of other ideas but these are a few that I have really enjoyed over the years. l learn so much from your videos and wish you the best with the new shop!

Not that I don't absolutely enjoy the time spent and learning so many interesting methods, but this repair would be an ideal candidate for a quick portable line bore after the new components you create are welded in place. I spent a few years in the field running one for a local equipment repair company and I didn't fully realize how beneficial the method is until I did a few large scale rebuilds of components that were also "intentionally disregarded". The line bore greatly simplifies the front end work required.

You went above and beyond boring those bushing holes after welding. I rarely see that on loaders, usually the bores are several thou over the pin size so no chance they will shrink enough the pins won't go thru. I imagine the factories would never invest that level of time and labor in their competitive race to the bottom.

Hi Keith I hope your new year improves packing all the machinery, tooling accumulated over the years the uncertainty of moving etc not good....I went through a similar experience a few years back moving lathe mill press etc in a car trailer alone still trying find some items from boxes cost me 600k....worth every penny "They say what doesn't kill you makes stronger" I still love engineering it keeps one going all the best. "The Move." sounds good to me. Of course as a retired Journeyman Electrician (My second career) I would advise you to get the machines in place before you ask him to wire them up. It will take less time if he can plan ahead knowing where he's going to have to run the conduit, boxes, etc.

Good point about parting off! I found that out one time parting off a piece where the center hole was threaded. When the parting tool broke through, that little bit of thread was able to swing the part around and hurl it so hard that it put a dent in the side of the solid steel. I was very lucky that I was not standing in the direct path of the item.

Happy New Year Keith - all the very best for the years to come. For your shop moving series, "2020 - A New Beginning" (short, simple and covers all aspects for your life, work and the start of a new decade) [edited bit - This may be overkill but putting hydraulic cylinder wipers/ seals in will do wonders for those pins - keep the grease in, the dirt out & give them 10 times the life span]
