I'm a helicopter pilot, both retired Army CWO and civilian rotor wing instrument rated. They need to make a formal complaint to the FAA so they can investigate. The pilot violated a host of flight and safety rules. The military is not immune. The pilot and whoever exerted command pressure to cause the violation can be prosecuted. Additionally, anyone injured or suffered a material loss can file a formal complaint in court and sue for relief. Make them pay.

Had a friend who had 'gator necks' but that was only for training or in country. O2 masks can preform the same function of keeping your face warm.

Yep our 278th was deployed for a year mission to middle East. I live here in East TN. They were sent a week before it hit. Whats most disturbing about this that alot of people dont understand is a lot of them are police and 1st responders themselves and were born and raised in these mountains and could run these hills barefoot in dark. They could be of such great use right now. To put in perspective just how this affected counties, Loudon County has a rather small population but with this deployment they lost 1 officer and 2 detectives. Thats a huge drain especially on these small counties which makes up a majority of East TN.

During hurricane Michael in Panama City, Florida, the Cajun Navy set up a food station and they allowed me to take about 40 meals a day out to different people that were working on powerlines and roads. They didn’t require ID for me to prove I was part of an organization they could see that I was genuinely helping so we brought those meals to our neighbors to linemen to anybody who truly needed food and we did that for a couple of weeks.! we lived on back road that did not get power for a while, but we had a weld that was being run by a generator so we actually set up a shower for people. It was a cold shower, but it was much needed and we took absolutely every opportunity with every person to pray with them, and tell them about the love of Jesus! I thank God for the Cajun Navy!

They are marked, but not like civilian aircraft... matte black serial number on the tail, not like a civilian aircraft with an obvious FAA registration number. As a retired US Army UH-60 pilot, I can tell you this was NOT intentional. Why? The pilot appears to be looking for a landing spot and seems to find the spot he wants to try. After he begins his descent, he either changes his mind or heeds the wave off. I think he changed his mind. In one angle, it seems that one of the crew told the pilot that stuff was flying on the ground. Hence, the abrupt nose-down move and hasty departure. That's pure reaction on the pilot's part to STOP causing damage and get out of there. (If he truly wanted to make a statement, he would have hovered there for awhile!) More to the story. Apparently, the pilot's intended landing spot was in a Save-a-Lot parking lot, adjacent to the relief site. The pilot probably wasn't even paying attention to what was beside it. He was concentrating on "sticking" the landing. He was relying on his crew to watch around the aircraft. That's normal teamwork. Another source stated that this aircraft was from the Connecticut National Guard. My last assignment in the US Army was training/evaluating National Guard and Reserve aviation units. I'm not going to say these pilots were less proficient - the standards are the same as for the active duty - but, let's face it, most of our Nat'l Guard/Reserve pilots don't have the day-to-day flying opportunities as do the active-duty pilots. This may have been a fairly new Pilot-in-Command who lacked the additional experience that Army standards don't address. As for the extent of damage, the UH-60 Blackhawk is HEAVY, nearly 6 tons empty! To stop that large, heavy helicopter from descending takes a LOT of power. That sudden, substantial increase in power creates a HUGE down draft. Anything not tied down under it is going to be blown away. Once the pilot decided to terminate his approach, he had no choice but to increase power and worsen the situation on the ground. When I was in Germany in the 1980s, I can tell you stories of the "new" Blackhawk blowing away assembly areas! This is just like that! So, NO, this was NOT intentional. Stop the conspiracy theories. The government was not out to "send a message." They were just negligent, as usual these days.

My nephew was there that day. He served two tours and is special ops. He said that it was intentional and they even turned back around and looked at them as to mock them. The food they were serving was ruined, and the canopy covering the supplies were ripped down. Never threatene a public official. Take names for prosecution later. Collect evidence. I believe military tribunals are in the future.

The easiest way to tell if something was an accident is it somebody fixes what they caused and if they apologized and when they don't run away those are signs that it is not on accident it is intentional. And you can clearly see that is not a landing zone no one radioed for clearance no one was signaled for clearance to land it's obviously not an area for landing

That guy that called in is mistaken. If the clown pilots had good intentions and it was an accident, then why were they wearing masks? Since when do pilots wear mask?

They should keep children from flying those helicopters .
