Here because Andy Cole said Ronaldo was the best player he ever faced and during this match, Cole stared at him in the locker room tunnel, mesmerized, and thought he felt like a super hero... This man really was the first "Messi/Cristiano" of the modern era. It's a shame injuries ruined him. Sometimes I wonder the heights he would have achieved with healthy knees and Messi/Cristiano's work ethic...

I saw it as well! Andy Cole talking about Ronaldo in quarter final match. And then I search for it.

Yes and Cole said R9 played the best 60 minutes he has ever seen. I think he exagerated. He didn't do much in this game. What a hold up from Man U

R9 was the man for sure (my fav of all time without a doubt), but not showing much in this footage that has been uploaded. He was nursing an injury and it was showing. Cole was just so in awe of him that he saw more than we did on this particular occasion.

wtf…. Still blows my mind today looking at this Inter starting 11. Specially the attacking trident of R9- Baggio-Zamorano. Good lord how didn’t they win everything or score 5-6 goals per game ?

Cos they missed chances all 3 of them

Because back then, defenders were much more competent. Just look at the gap in todays league table. So many goals scored, the points gap is bigger. It just means overall decline in every team while the top teams just get stronger and stronger. Besides VVD, how many defenders nowadays can you say rival the likes of Nesta, Stam, Materazzi, Maldini, Costacurta, Cannavaro, Hierro etc etc?

Ronaldo was never the same after the France 98 final imo.

Baggio(top10) and R9(top5) are legit Goat level yet Man United still won.

r9 wasn't r9. this was around when he was riddled with that knee injury. baggio by this point was kinda over the hill. he started that game, but he wasn't an automatic starter. he stopped being an automatic starter after he left juve in 1995. i feel that not withstanding, that manchester united team was so good and had so much drive, they would still have beaten inter over two legs regardless. becks was in his prime and yorke was crazy that year.

Zamorano was 100% a penalty, but Ronaldo went over far too easy.
