Zimbabwean married to an Igbo man happily for the past 29 years. His sisters were the ones that tried to convince him not to marry me but my mother in-law is the one that supported me. She said as long as her son is happy she doesn’t care where he marries. And for sure he always says our home is a peaceful one.

Marriage encompasses more than just love. In my view, marriage transcends tribal, ethnic, linguistic, and color boundaries. It is a sacred union between two unique individuals who have discovered a special bond, rooted in shared interests, love, and a mutual willingness to commit to one another, letting go of all others. This union is built on a foundation of trust, understanding, and mutual respect, where two people come together to form a lifelong partnership.

Yorubas are always like the intermediary between all the major tribes in Nigeria. Yorubas are the most tolerance and the most peaceful. Yorubas can easily marry an Hausa or Igbo with less issues, but an Hausa and Igbo marriage is always a big issue. Yorubas are religious tolerance also. In a typical Yoruba family of 6, it is very possible for 3 of them to be a practicing muslims and the other 3 devoted christians and they will leave peacefully. I am a Yoruba christian who got married to a Yorubas muslim and my wife still practices Islam and sometimes i join her, and she sometimes go to church with me especially on special days and New Years eve. We have been happily married-for 6 years. My father in-law is a great man and he likes to confide in me even more than his other son in-law who's a muslim. He always acknowledged me as a good hearted person bcuz I didnt stop his daughter from practicing her religion, and also how much love have displayed over the years. Love should be our language and religion.

She summed up this marriage by saying if not he converted to islam she wouldn't have looked his way. As you can see the grudges between both tribes and their religion are still there. I also want to say that inter tribal marriage has never been an issue in Nigeria. My Igbo neighbour married a Hausa woman they are both Christians. Don't fool anyone, you cannot get married to a Muslim woman or man if you are not a Muslim. It does happen however occasions like it is not part of statistics and the way this video is good and engaging

That guy did not become muslim as a result of maariage, or in order to marry a mulim woman. He had already converted to Islam before meeting his wife, not the other way around. He is the one who made the decision to marry a muslim woman because, as he puts it, this would help him grow in his faith. Nobody is trying to fool nobody here. Christian women too won't consider marry you if you're not Christian.
@jonnynasz
@jonnynasz 2 ай бұрын
@@Saraman-op1vd did you even read my comments or did you even watch the video? Was he born a Muslim? The answer is NO, the deal that breaker is religion. That's what you didn't get. On the other hand my dad is Edo/Igbo/Tiv and Indian. Marriage is beyond tribe, race, education or riches, what matters is love, respect, trust, compatibility and lots of communication. The funny thing is that nobody has apologised to the Ibos over the pogrom and genocide that claimed the lives of over 3 million Ibo women and children in 1966-70. Even the Europeans have apologised several times over slavery and colonialism. In Nigeria this monumental crime against Ibos is swept under the carpet amidst gang up against them and exclusion from central power and regional investment. Meanwhile we are supposed to just clap and applaud about so-called marriages among Ibos and their implacable adversaries.
