Additional Rules Corrections: After editing this video I realized that we didn't treat Guard as a shoot action. I do not believe you can Guard after making a Shooting action in your turn. Sorry about that folks! I guess it could be considered as early Overwatch. :)

As a quick note, I don't believe you can Shoot and Guard. Guard is treated as a Shoot action. We get this wrong. Unfortunately, the report was complete by the time I caught it.

Actually it was legit. Intercessors have a slightly different version of bolter discipline baked into their datasheet so it's always active: they can make two shoot actions as long as one is with a bolt weapon. So, fire a bolt weapon, then go on guard is fine. It's two shoot actions, and the first was with a bolt weapon.

@@MiniatureGameMontage t Intercession is the part people don't argue about though. The alleged ambiguity is specific to Phobos and compendium bolter discipline (and CSM/Legionary malicious volleys, and the roughly similar warp coven exalted Astartes) that says you can shoot twice but both attacks have to be with a bolt weapon. A lot of people think that they should be able to shoot them guard because they've only got a boltgun and their fists anyway even though a strict RAW reading says they probably can't. But the intercession bolter discipline is different: only one attack has to be with a bolt weapon, so as long as they fired the bolt rifle first (and not the auxiliary grenade launcher or something), it's unambiguously allowed for them.

In tp 4 the first two marine activations shot twice then went on guard, while they can't shoot twice then guard they can still perform normal overwatch after their activation. I don't think it changed the outcome at all but I feel bad for the poor necrons. Big question is, are we going to see a batrep featuring either of the shadow vault teams in the near future?

@@XDfunnyguy Right! I caught that afterwards. It’s not worded particularly well. I would love to bring in Kroot and Breachers, new Necrons and Guard but I’m so far behind on the sets. I’ve put myself in timeout until I catch up. 😂

just want to add that I'm really digging the Synthwave in mostly every video on the background. First channel to hear that music instead of rock. Not that there's something wrong with Rock, but I just think Synthwave/Electro fits this genre much better.

All felt too realistic! These guys are deadly. The Chapter Tactics are good and bolter discipline is really good too. Always 4 shots on 3s...strip cover, add AP1 on crits.

Love the camera work and overall thrust of you battle reports. Some ideas, it would be cool if, instead of just narrating what happens like a news reporter, each player narrated what they were thinking to do, how the roll went down and their reaction. This could be with static or dynamic camera at the level of the models. This is just something I've seen in some other great battle reports. It can even be fun to see the struggle through the eyes of each player rather than one giant top down disinterested take on what happened. Just some ideas. 2 cents. Keep up the great work, look forward to the next one!

Good game though I think that Shoot/Guard thing might have put the necrons in a bit worse position than they might have been otherwise. I'm sure they'll get their revenge sooner or later :)

I'm excited for the new rules. After the game we discussed the outcome. The Necrons are slow so they were at a disadvantage for the objectives. Also, the ploys just didn't lend to them. In order to get a reroll they had to get within 6" which they don't really want to be. Meanwhile the Intercessors are across the board with rerolls and shooting twice.

The difference between dice rolls man. Necron shooting was unbelievable bad if the necrons had a few more hits they might have won. But they wifed the shooting hard

Im building a necron tomb world kill team. Should I be really worried about phobos?

I would say, yes. Phobos Kill Teams can change their orders being concealed and then all of a sudden engaged. They also have bolter discipline allowing them to shoot twice. Most of their weapons are Lethal 5 so they will crit you on 5+. Against the older Tomb World Necrons they will be deadly in my opinion.

It was a great game to watch regardless but you got Guard action wrong. It says 'Once per enemy operative's activation, after that enemy operative performs an action, you can interrupt that activation and select one friendly operative on guard...' At 13:45 the Necron should have only received one guard shot from the marines and then been free to complete his activation
