Deluxe is responsble for working with grove street games on the FIRST release of the definitive edition. They have nothing to do with the current version just released. I’d say it’s mostly grove street games that had the biggest part of fudging up the original release of this. They must of been given a bigger peace of the cake to work on at the time than deluxe was given. I swear grove street games had zero nostalgia for the gta trilogy and that’s why it was so bad. They didn’t know where to keep the “happy feelings” in that we once had with the games.

Yeah noticed that too. Also his suits are missing from the trilogy version when you complete the game they are supposed to be in cjs wardrobe after you complete the game. The james bond suit the red suit and the blue suit are missing from this trilogy and same aviators are missing and a few tattoos are gone from this version of the game. Usless!

@@102tt That's not their fault i've read about it online rockstar paid for the music rights to be put back into the games on the trilogy and some bands said no. So rockstar had to make them absent from the trilogy. Some people think you can port a trilogy over to new consoles with the entire soundtrack and radio stations. But that's not the case some of them wouldn't give permission for the music to be in the games. Shame people act like this in this era now!

It wasn’t Grove Street Games (GSG) fault. Rockstar should have done it themselves. GSG is only familiar with mobile phones, has a small budget and have few workers. I don’t think Rockstar themselves did enough research, a billion dollar company too lazy to even bother for their remasters. I think Rockstar is to blame

Both of them are at fault. Rockstar delegated this task out as they are probably dedicating all resources to GTA 6. GSG provided an underwhelming product and Rockstar allowed it onto the market to see if anyone really cared. It wasn’t a priority. Rockstar must have thought GSG could handle this task as they are PS2 games. Mobile games have more detail at this point. Clearly they were wrong.

Obviously, this is to display more of what is in the distance, because the map has a tilted view here, not a top-down view, like in classic GTA. Centring the player's arrow doesn't really make sense in this case. But it would be nice if there were an option for a top-down view.

It is important to note that the classic lighting in the Netflix versions did not work correctly in GTA SA as it used the Los Santos lighting in San Fierro and Las Venturas as well, making them look pretty weird. It also had way less ground fog, so the map still felt very small. Great to see these improvements! Still three years too late but I am glad that they haven’t completely abandoned the trilogy…

Rockstar didn't work on this. It was the team who made LA Noire VR. Same team worked on Netflix version and announced they would do for the rest of version but never said when would be finished. And neither Rockstar worked on RDR port because devs said long ago port is impossible due to coding being such a mess. Double Eleven proved them wrong.

Rockstar took the situation into their own hands. Kicked the 3rd parties out and fixed the games themselves. They still got a wee bit of work to do yet but its way better now than it was at launch. Its actually worth playing now.

It's "okay" now - but not quite good enough at all. Work still needs to be done to make it great again. Hopefully Rockstar follows through on fixing mostly everything like they said in their statement 3 years ago... making it the "quality that it should be," exactly as they said. With that being said, these games are now playable. If I had to give an honest rating for the Trilogy, it would be a 6/10. Edit: Had to change my score from a 7/10 to a 6/10 because I'm finding more and more bugs. So therefore it's just "okay" not "decent" to play now.

To be honest, working on a 20 year old game is actually quite unheard of these days. If it were easy to do this the remaster would have released in a decent state. I still reckon these companies should turn to the modding community when it comes to updating classic games, but essentially keeping the same skeleton of the original game is how you do a faithful remaster. Im sure 90% of the modding community would be more than happy to collaborate with game studios and find a way to get all the required mods to work in tandem on the original engines.

I noticed that in the settings graphics section for gta 3 if you turn on classic lighting then the clouds will be removed, they also added an option where you can change the clouds to be volumetric but the moment you turn on classic lightning then the option for the cloud setting will disappear

It's a step in the right direction. For older players, I don't think it will ever be enough but for someone new who never touched this trilogy before, it's probably the best way to play it unless you want to spend some time on pc patching and modding the original version.

They’re still missing one thing from the original GTA Vice City.. the screen affect animations when you kill someone with a chainsaw when the blood splatter on the screen and same for when tommy splashes in the water, how the water splash on screen.. i loved those screen animations growing up lol, but that was only when you toggle trails on, but when the trails off then there are no animation effects on screen, but blood animations when you cut someone’s head off or snipe their heads off was so satisfying on classic vice city

I just installed the OG San Andreas yesterday evening and started modding again. Now I see your video lol. The lighting and the volumetric clouds are an absolute gamechanger. That 2D fog layer at a certain height was utter bs. The only thing really missing for me (and something that I haven't achieved while modding the OG) was the draw distance for grass, bushes and cars. I got to render trees at a reasonably far distance, beyond viewing distance - but never managed to make cars appear the same way. Hopefully they fix this too, soon.

With the ghost town sometimes and it’s random and I can’t seem to trigger it consistently but the opening scene from GTA III would sometimes be rendered invisible. So I recon they made it visible again to fix the inconsistency

Hi mate. I noticed a couple of extra issues too. Going through the airport tunnel on series X it glitches every time there is an overhead beam. It seems to stop and start just for a split second and is really annoying. Also certain areas of San Andreas CJ still gets stuck in the ground. Bicycle tyres often look flat as they sink into the ground when doing stunts and such too. I did notice a cool thing in GTA 3 though. You can see yourself and other npcs reflected on the L Train metallics while it is at the station and when it moves. You also see your character reflected in some glass surfaces on buildings as well as aiming down a sight in front of a mirror now has the reflection too. Good new though, the giant Rooster/Chicken and the pumping things in the desert area are now fully animated so the Roosters head moves up and down which is cool. I also can’t get car washes to work at all in Vice City you can drive in them but no animation. Maybe I am just unlucky.

Classic lighting is amazing, gives the perfect vibe for each game and I absolutely love it! Though they definitely need to work more on these games, there's still stuff that need fixing. For example, the poles falling through the map after you hit them, the character models, the noise of the car when you run into it, like you're kicking it? (This wasn't in the og). Let's hope they don't stop here!

The HUD used to bother me when I saw the armor on the bottom, and the health on top in the first mobile release (mobile, Xbox 360, PS3 Version), before the Definitive Edition, but the Definitive Edition made the health bar and the armor bar look like the original but still kept the health bar on top and the armor bar on the bottom and honestly...... I like the way it looks in the Definitive Edition, the mini map being bigger is fine for me as well. Honestly there's no need to change those things, there's other important things to care about, it doesn't need to be EXACTLY like the original, that would defeat the purpose of what it's supposed to be.

It shows that it's a passionate small software company that just got a project, that was way too big for a small team of not-rockstart developers. Another thing they could fix in the trilogy is the sun path during the daytime in game. the sun goes from east to west, but over the northern sky. Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas all take place in the northern hemisphere, not the southern hemisphere.

@@eeelpuma They won't. Mods are just that: Mods. Fake. Cheats. The RAGE engine works ONLY for games in the HD Universe, but the GTA Trilogy takes place in the older 3D Universe. Giving HD Universe physics in a game set in the 3D Universe will *_RUIN_* the nostalgia for longtime players *_AND_* newcomers who are new to the GTA series alike.

I bought the trilogy for xbox one over the summer and had no problems whatsoever the entire time I was playing it, I was wondering what the whole fuss was about. I just recently started playing the original versions on emulators and ios and have to say the definitive edition is a big step up in terms of gameplay
