Whenever I see an all Asian cast, I assume I'll see an original story well told by actors who can act. The "under represented audience" is simply the average American who wants good entertainment. Btw, I just watched the first 2 episodes. I got exactly what I expected. Original story. Well told. Good acting. I look forward to more & more all Asian stories.

​@ Sooo, it turns out there are LOTS of 'the girl next door' movies. i believe i saw the '04 version, but no, that's not an existentialist work. Apologies if you already know this, but in existentialism, "our perception of reality is subjective and primarily shaped by our individual experiences and senses, rather than an objective truth existing independently of our perception, essentially, our reality is constructed through our interactions with the world around us making it unique to each individual." In the existentialist work Roseencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard, he explores the existence of the minor Hamlet characters R & G and what 'the play' Hamlet would have been like as experienced by them. Likewise, interior Chinatown looks at the lives of minor characters in this TV procedural drama, who are always essentially extras, but then reimagines this TV show set in Chinatown from the perspective of those who live in Chinatown and witness this filming every week. In the novel, R & G are Never in any scenes of Hamlet in which they were not written in by Shakespeare. But they still observe many of the 'scenes' in the play even though they're not a part of them. Similarly, the extras in interior Chinatown cannot be in scenes with any speaking roles. They are always extras. And we see in one scene where Yang's character keeps trying to put his head in front of the camera but is blocked at every attempt. That's because from the perspective of the TV show (that 'reality') he is not in the script, much like R & G are not in most of the script of Hamlet, and thus during the book or movie, they are Never put into scenes that they were not part of in the play. nehu, that's what i was getting at. i happen to LOVE existentialism, so for others who do, I think this is a Brilliant & Exceptionally well written (and acted) series. 😁 (sorry so long)

Looks very different than the book. But I think these changes improve the adaptation to video storytelling. I hope they can capture the books' sense of mixed emotions of Asian stereotypes. Without that element, the main theme of the book will be lost.

Clark is still working but not leading. Ming-Na did well. Not unexpected about the others. Those with longer resumes build up more connections and stay employed longer. Heck he's married to Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing whose father is Joel Grey. Ming-Na went to Carnegie Mellon for acting and got to trained to do every job on the team including acting. Great prog. Can't imagine that hasn't help her understand the the directors and the crew.

After watching it, Willis’s brother Jonny makes me think of the short-lived series Vanishing Son starring Russell Wong as the good guy leading man and Kung fu expert. And he had a younger brother who was getting into trouble. The mainstream world wasn’t ready for the show.

It should’ve lasted a few years how Jian Hua was basically a one-man A-Team fueled by the loss of Wago in hunting down that General guy who could’ve been doing something hugely evil that even ended with Russell Wong dying a noble hero or finally getting that General only to get deported for his efforts. At this point, why not just finish the Vanishing Son story with an old Jian Hua finally redeeming himself?
