Interior Design - Colorful Small Home Makeover

A Toronto century home with a long and narrow layout gets a main floor makeover by designer Philippe Beauparlant. Learn his tips for creating a functional floor plan, and discover how he modernized the dated home. Plus, see the home’s standout feature wall!
The home lacked a defined entryway, so Philippe added floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and a patterned cement tile walkway to create the illusion of a vestibule. The living room fireplace gets a modern makeover, while old furniture is replaced with new pieces to fit the small space. In the dining area, a unique wall made of terracotta brick makes a statement, and segments the room from the stairway. Just off the dining room, a pocket door conceals the powder room for added privacy. Philippe completely transformed the drab kitchen with additional counter space, as well as large windows and doors for more natural light. A backyard retreat offers an outdoor oasis in the middle of the city.

This is one of the most sensible but beautiful and warm redo's I've seen. What a great use of space and light and the foyer designer Philippe Beauparlant created was so well designed and a great storage space. The living space is so welcoming and the kitchen is so very practical but extremely beautiful also with the new glass doors making it so much more inviting. The outdoor space was an oasis of relaxing and yet so nice for guests. Designer Philippe Beauparlant is gifted with an eye toward beauty but also not at the expense of losing a warm home feeling. You can tell he cares deeply about helping people find their own sense of home sweet home. This so deserves the over a million views it has gathered.

Genius makeover. I experienced the changes and makeover as my own home and was brought to tears. How gorgeous!!! This place is quite narrow like mine and I truly enjoyed this whole renovation. Pocket door...genius!!! It disappears into the wall. I love it! The kitchen? Must I even mention that makeover...beautiful...quite beautiful. What's a powder room? People mention it in some other comments on yt and I'm guessing it's a half bath (only sink and toilet, no shower or tub)? Why is it called like that in the US?
