This is one H&H video that I keep coming back to, I think this is a fabulous reno that didn't break the bank, reflected the client/friend and looks/feels cheerful. Well done. BTW--the designer's hair & makeup + sweater is a true testimony to her talent. If you'd describe it, you'd never imagine how she owns/rocks the whole look.

As a culturalist of life and people, I am have found my style is a mix of bohemian, chic and modern. I LOVE color and plants. Your redesign is gorgeous and full of life. And I love how you brought in her grandmother’s spirit throughout the space. How thoughtful. Five stars from me! ❤️

Marcena Keto I agree. I think the rope handles are the only style misstep. Otherwise, this place is awesome and inspirational because its style is individual and spare, yet beautiful.

I agree that , even could have had leather handles if wanted to keep industrial , also the wall of pics and spoons looks too busy ! Otherwise beautiful.

There are SO MANY other really great options to upgrade the tiny details of this space that to use some crazy rope idea for kitchen handles is such a lost opportunity, and fail. Good thing it can still be easily changed.

Imagine how much nicer and more sleek that dining area would look without that paste-up of junk on the wall. Instead, brushed steel color frames for a carefully curated selection of her own photography prints, placed precisely maybe five across and six down, would look so so much better than that high school/dorm room mish-mash. As it is here, the plants get lost in the clutter, the greenery does not pop with that distraction in the background which makes the room appear smaller than it would if it were left even plain white with nothing on it. I cannot really see the ladder either because there is not a clear background. The unfinished ceiling has no lighting. So if there were a glossy ceiling to match the floors, with pinpoint recessed lighting, it would transform that entire space to something sophisticated and adult, with lights positioned to focus the eye on the photos that should be on that messy scrapbook wall. A finished proper ceiling with lighting could also be painted a lacquered color, it would look so much nicer with a glossy glassy color like a deep navy, which would contrast with the white, and give it a nautical feel since the rope pulls (gahhh, imagine pasta sauce dripped on it, or how they would become greasy and icky over time) are apparently going to stay, which would be in keeping with the erm, view. Or better yet, reverse the colors and make the floors a deep rich royal navy and the ceiling white gloss, with the recessed lighting, which would make the ceiling appear even taller than it already is, and would match beautifully with that yellow 'signature' color she likes, sort of Italian modern primary color palette. Get rid of that child's chalkboard wall, ASAP, it is pointless and adds more clutter and juvenalia. I'm confused--the bedroom faces the dining area, so where is this so-called 'cuddle room--is it in the middle? What? So it can't really function as a living room then, it is just a wasted space that could have been an office. Huh? Couldn't that have been the bedroom, the existing bedroom location then could have been opened to be an L-shape with the dining area, allowing for a real couch and coffee table for actually sitting with more than one person, even being able to look out of the window especially at night? Sigh. Sorry, but this is a mess. This is a kid's playroom, not a professional woman's home. It could have been glamorous and elegant, to play off the waterfront view (if you ignore the huge dirt vacant lots on the ground), emphasizing the artistic. Hipsters will be the death of design. This apartment is what happens when an adult woman is still stuck in her teens. Make a decision--you are either going with Restoration Hardware industrial, or you are going with homespun twee yellow, kerchiefs, and spoons. The spoon collection is amazing but should be treated as art, in a glass enclosed really large framed shadowbox with gallery light fixtures above and below it, huge, that is what should be on that ruined collage wall, showing the respect that collection deserves. Have fun scraping that mess off the wall!
