Your videos are always beautifully illustrated with pictures and examples. I don't really follow trends because it causes me to always feel anxious about trying to keep up. I appreciate that you always say to fill our homes with things we love. I have a chest that belonged to my great aunt who was the first post mistress in a neighboring town, it is over 110 years old.

I have heard that when we go into a recession, the trend turns to a warm and cozy vibe. And when the economy is good, it turns cool and minimalist? I don't know if that's true but I am happy to see antiques, natural wood and olive trees. I will never get rid of these pieces; they remind me of trips to Europe. Certain "celebrity" designers never stopped using these classics I noticed. They were always styled and mixed with a few trends. I will never be brave enough to commit to wallpaper or dark walls, but I admire the esthetic. Thank you for sharing!

I love everything in this video. One trend I will never follow again is the wallpaper. I live in a 107-year-old home, and you can only imagine the time it took to scrap layers upon layers of wallpaper off each wall in this two-story home! Every room is now painted.

Love that wallpaper and natural woods are coming back. We have an 1880 farmhouse and I have kept this look through thick and thin and it never looked outdated here. Also have tons of antiques. Like you said everything repeats and if you have a period look it never goes out of style.

I like your advice on following your gut! There are so many trends that just don't work for me. I do like a lighter softer look, but I am all about antiques and inherited pieces. I like wood tones and painted pieces, especially if painting refreshes the piece. I would love to visit your shop some day. I live in Florida, but a road trip sounds fun!

For my redesign on my bathroom I have been considering a color called owl grey. It's grey but it has a beautiful undertone of blue that I just love. I found a backsplash with hues of blue glass, whites with touches of greys and silver. I think I'm going to do it. It will give my guest bathroom that fresh coastal feel. As long as blue is in, why not. Thank you this inspirational video.

As always, love your video! Enjoyed the 2023 Trends because much of what you were showing is the way I have decorated for years. Have antiques that are family heirlooms, antique pictures, the same warm and earthy colors shown and the dry stuff in a vase, crock, etc. So many people who have visited my home say it is "cozy" and the greatest compliment to me is whenever a male visitor tells me how much they enjoy the feel in my home. This video makes me feel that I have been in style for quite awhile. Thank you for making comments to support everyones individuality.

Men seem to really enjoy natural wood tones. I have tried to get hubby on board with painting our stairs and other pieces of furniture... He thinks it's a sin to cover the grain. It's one thing where I've let him have his way ;) and we get the same comments on our home. There is no better compliment than when someone tells me "It's so warm and homey." That is my goal - not a pristine magazine worthy photo shoot where you would be afraid to sit down and have a drink. Finally!! I feel vindicated that I didn't follow the monotone white and grey trends!

I always enjoy your videos and I agree to decorate with things that you love. I have always been drawn to antiques. Some things I have left wood and others have been painted. I painted one of my antique dressers a creamy off white over 30 yrs ago and still love it today. It was too dark with my other decor in my bedroom. I have never wallpapered but love the look. I do enjoy the dark moody colors but have many rooms a lighter neutral as I swap out my decor seasonally. I have had a dark olive green sofa for about 25 yrs. When the 1st one wore out, I replaced it with the same color. It is such a great neutral. I am not a fan of the walls, trim, baseboards, and doors all painted the same color though. I have left my kitchen with the original wood cabinets despite being tempted to paint them years ago [we have an older home]. I also have a wood table and chair set but have other pops of color in the kitchen.

Fun! Some I like and some not so much! I do NOT have a gift of interior design so by the time I put together a room I like I find it is no longer “in”! So I’m glad to hear you say if I am pleased that is all that matters. I do like the florals that look like they have just been gathered from outside and I like the extra ottoman seating. I already have the huge rock (gathered from our farm) fireplace so win for me! However, it is quite large and is the hardest place for me to know how to decorate. Anyway, thanks for the update on the latest trends. I enjoyed it!

It’s so true to follow your heart and buy things you love and give your space the feeling you like because trends only last as long as the next new thing and usually by the time everyone starts jumping on a trend it becomes outdated the next year 😂. All the influencers I follow are all about olive trees and I wonder how long that will last. I did buy one for one of my bedrooms and love it but also have my tropical palms that I have had for years and still love it. Great video

I usually adopt a trend after it has gone out of fashion and yes, it is absolutely true, Solomon had it right when he said that there is nothing new under the sun. Do what works for you. It will probably "go out of fashion" soon, but in November 2022 I painted a black accent wall in my living room and it changed the entire feel of the space. All of a sudden, all of my furniture and accessories looked much better to my eyes, and I realized that for the past 30 years I've been decorating with "Dark Academia" without ever having used the perfect final touch of a dark accent wall. I had a good laugh when I realized that, but all the years I've been living on my own (since 1969) I've made cozy "dens" for myself filled with books, art prints, and classic design pieces and didn't even know it. Sometimes you just sort of "absorb" things through osmosis.

I’m loving the wood elements, loving some (but very few) of the wallpaper trends …. But I’m just not willing to go all bold colors in a room, (maybe a bathroom vanity or bottom row of cabinets in the kitchen, and maybe even an accent wall or two) but I’m with you on preferring brighter rooms, it can tend to close things up and without proper lighting have an adverse affect…. I don’t care too much for the old Victorian style any longer (had it for years) but I do however like mixing old antiques with some of my decor….. I love florals but not the older version…. I am a big hydrangea fan!! To each his own…. It’s what makes the world go round 😂

Trends is a subject in decorating or clothing to me. I love to see what’s out there coming around. Everyone has their own style and home to put things in their space. I like one or two usually from a list that may inspire me. A big factor with all this is your budget and how much you can afford to change or update from time to time. People that can afford to be in style at all times is nice. I like what I like and do that. Thanks for video Jennifer ! 💕

Love the video. I do follow some design trends -- at least I love to know about them and may incorporate them here and there. The "chippy" paint look is definitely changing to more naked wood mixed with some color as I'm seeing in the painted furniture world. I also love thrifting and love finding unique pieces. My mother in law's family in Holland owns a furniture over 100 years and we have some gorgeous Dutch antiques from them that I treasure. No trend can take those away.

Over the last few weeks I've been color sampling dark greens and blue greys in my family room. I'm really looking for the right green that will work with the sagey green of my kitchen cabinets that can be seen through an opening in the wall of my family room. There needs to be enough contrast so it doesn't look strange. Plus my goal is to make it more cozy, so I want it darker. All about the dried flowers when used in the right way. Seeded eucalyptus dries really nicely, so I have some of that as well as grasses, flowers, and hydrangia, which I've cut from my own plants. I change them seasonally, except the hydrangea, so it's not too over done. I like the idea of the bench seating sofa because I always feel that I'm falling between cushions otherwise.
