Whats the procedure to get proof copy? Plz help
@hapruitt.anelthalien2 жыл бұрын
@@secretsuperstar144 You have to upload everything to KDP as if you are getting ready to publish a paperback. Go through the whole process, but instead of hitting the publish button at the end of the process, hit the button to buy proof copies (I can't remember if they are called author copies or proof copies). Does that help?

I made this video about cover design. It doesn't cover the technical aspects, but it discusses the graphic design elements to make an eye-catching cover. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXanm6egh6udbMk

Thank you. The format I followed was that of the Pendergast series written by Preston and Child, and the book turned out beautifully. (Doug even praised the book.) I exported the MS from Scrivener 3.0 to Word 97 to format, as I do not understand how to use Scrivener 3.0 to do that. I have subscribed to your channel. I will also look at your other videos.

Wonderful. Well explained the formation of a book. Thank you. But I need a tutorial which contained the many pics with the text in the book. or making a huge volume with the pics and text.

How many inches should i set for Inner and outer margins,Book of 6×9 inches ?

@@secretsuperstar144 I set my margins like this: 0.76" for Top, Bottom, and Inside. 0.6" for the Outside. 0.14" for the gutter (which is positioned on the left)

@@nom5205 I don't know anyone specific, but you could look on Fiverr for an interior formatter. Also, some programs you can buy do the formatting for you.

Did you use 1/2 inch indenting for paragraphs. Or do you change it to .25 like other published novels?
@hapruitt.anelthalien2 жыл бұрын
I used the 1/2 inch indent. As long as you're consistent throughout your manuscript, either will look "right" when readers read your book.
@tiffanydimaculangan10793 жыл бұрын
How did you print it? Or someone did it?
@hapruitt.anelthalien3 жыл бұрын
I uploaded my manuscript as a PDF to Amazon's publishing program. They do print on demand books.

If I tell someone to make the cover for me, then how should I determine the spine thickness
@hapruitt.anelthalien2 жыл бұрын
The templates on KDP will have the spine measurements. Even if you don't use those templates, put can go to the "print cover calculator and templates" page and type in your page count, and it will give you a template that you can download and refer to for measurements.

so why did you choose self-pub after being picked up by a publisher?
@hapruitt.anelthalien3 жыл бұрын
For my first book, I went with a hybrid publisher. Hybrid publishing means you retain full rights and control (like self-publishing) but you pay publishing experts to help you with all of the tasks. Some people say any publishing you have to pay for is a scam, but the company I went with made the experience much like self-publishing except with a paid supportive team of experts who taught me about publishing along the way instead of paying random people to do the different jobs (cover design, editing, formatting, etc.)

12-point is much too large for book body text. I'll guarantee that your first book (the one produced by Harper Collins) is not set in 12-point type. More likely about 10.5 point.
