Winner of a video, I have been researching "guitar alternate picking tips" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Ganyatty Guitar Gainify - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got cool success with it.

@georgejansen408910 жыл бұрын
Nice video, was wondering, could this be done with alternate picking for same effect?
@GuitarCompass10 жыл бұрын
George Jansen At this tempo, you could practice this with alternate picking, but the whole purpose of this lesson is to practice the sweeping motion in preparation for playing faster arpeggios.
@georgejansen408910 жыл бұрын
Free Guitar Videos Thank you for the fast response. It almost seems you're sweep picking at certain parts, is that correct or am I not seeing it right?
@GuitarCompass10 жыл бұрын
George Jansen You are correct. All of the arpeggios where the pick travels in one direction should be played with one sweeping motion.

Thanks for the arpeggio lesson. You talk about rolling the index finger up on some of these going backwards, like the Dm. Is there a reason why one wouldn't just bar it? Would that negate the whole arpeggio idea and just be picking a chord or is there another reason?
@GuitarCompass9 жыл бұрын
braintwang The rolling helps to mute the string, which gives separation between the notes. Otherwise, they will just sound like an arpeggiated chord, with everything ringing together.
@braintwang9 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that's what I fijured.

This is a great lesson, and I am learning much from it. Is the B flat chord in the first progression a "borrowed" chord (i.e. flat seventh), making the 4/4 part of this a C major progression, or am I just confused?
@mikelunz10 жыл бұрын
Good question. He doesn't really say, but I want to say that he's starting in C Mixolydian, which means he's in F Major. Our IV chord in F major is Bb Major, our iii chord is a minor, and our V chord is C major. F g a Bb C d e F - there's our key.
@mikelunz10 жыл бұрын
Also note that in F major, our C Major chord can be (and is traditionally) a dominant 7th chord- C e G Bb being the notes. If you add in the 9 and 11 notes of the C major chord, you end up with C e G Bb D f, which we can contains our Bb Major chord. Bb major is in effect an extension of a C 11 chord. Hope that helps!!
