First we have to know about the ionization energy. Ionization energy: “The energy required to remove an electron from the outermost shell of an isolated gasoues atom.” Metals: Metals are the elements with big size. Size of metals are large and outermost electron in the metals is very far from the nucleus. So it experience very less nuclear attraction. Due to low attraction, very less energy is required to remove a electron from the outer most shell of an isolated gasoues atom . Hence, the ionization energy of metals are low because of Increasing size of atomic radius Less nuclear attraction toward valence electron. High shielding effect. Presence of inner electrons between nucleus and outermost shell.
