I have chronic stress and I have this chronic feeling of having a fever (internal fever), but my body temperature is reading normal. My normal body temperature is usually between 96.6°F and 98.0°F, sometimes it's a little lower, but usually does not go lower than 96.6°F. However, even when my temperature is within this range I feel feverish, and when it's above 98 I feel like I'm burning up. My temperature constantly feels like it's between 106°F and 115°F; my head is constantly pounding and I'm sweating but the thermometer doesn't read anything. This leads me to believe that an "internal fever" is a real fever, but it just can't be measured for some strange reason. Should I talk to my doctor about this "internal fever" of mine? Thanks for the explanation and thanks for understanding. It is so maddening that people do not understand that an internal fever is a real fever that is caused by the hypothalamus raising your core body temperature, even to dangerously high levels, and that it simply cannot be measured on a thermometer. Just because a fever is not measurable, it doesn't mean it isn't a real fever.

I think it's real. I've had my temp checked with a no-touch thermometer and it was normal, but when checked with an oral thermometer it was high

I agree! You have fever-like symptoms, so even though the thermometer reads normal, doesn't mean you don't have a fever, right?

Those no-touch thermometers are garbage. I miss the standard oral mercury thermometers -I will register 100 deg F on a mercury thermometer but normal on a no-touch thermometer.

My anexity started in May 2021, the symptom was internal feaver or heat sensation in my whole body, which is an unpleasant feeling which stop you from doing your everyday task. I went to my doctor and he prescribed Bupropion and it did not work at all with me, then I went to another Dr. and prescribed Buspirone hcl 15 mg for me. That medication work like magic for me. However, the side effect was so bad for me. I have developed an insomnia due to taking this medication. Now, it is Dec 2021, and I stop taking medication anymore, the heat sensation went away. Thanks God. My advise to you is to go to your Dr and take the medication for 6 months. After that I hope everything will be okay with you. The body will adjust by itself.

@@_Vicky___R I used to take 2 times / day for the first 5 months, then at the 6th month , I changed the dose without talking to my doctor because the side effect was killing me, I had an insomnia and so to get rid of it I had to reduce the dose or change the medication. So I reduces the dose from 2/day to 1 per day. At the first week , the heat feeling was light and I forced myself to continue and it did work for me. Please note it might not work for you but give it a try. What I did also I took a 2 weeks vacation in Florida, that help eliminating the anxiety from me. Hope you will be okay

Anyone who has internal fever should get their ESR test done. The main cause of this fever is inflammation. I have been suffering from the same fever for 4 years. My ESR is always at 15 which is slightly higher than normal
