I am really going crazy , I have had my babies for almost 5 years and al of a sudden I started seeing the gold color fading and scales falling off sunken in behind the head and a sunken belly stringy white poo. I had treated with salt and bacteria and fungi and still I have lost 3 fish in the past 2 months. I'm going to have to treat my whole tank. My 2 koi and 2 African featherfins seem fine but my sarrasas are dieing. Thank you for your videos I was so lost and you again saved the swimming Angels. These fish are the best for mental health and I bring people that I know need help and have them just sit in front of my tank and watch the fish . My fish LOVE attention and love when people are watching them. Its like they put on a show for whoever is in front of the tank. I have sat in a chair everyday and hand fed them for over 4 years and they are truly part of the family and in our dining room when we eat they eat at the same time .

Kev, Thank you for having the best “how to” videos on aquarium and fish keeping. You are my go to guy for all fish and aquarium tips, tricks and treatments. I haven’t owned fish in 30 plus years or so but now my 5 year old daughter Ava had a fascination with them and so doing things like I do, we went from a single goldfish she won at the fair to a 5 gallon, then 10 gallon and now a 75 gallon fresh water tank. 🤦! Anyways, Dude, you are down to earth, easy to follow and direct and to the point which I appreciate! Our Cichlids are 2- blood parrots and named ( Mustard and Mayonnaise). and 2- Tiger Oscars are (Jelly and Peanut Butter). 😎 Too cute coming from a 5 year old man! Thank you Kev and keep these videos coming! Now I get to treat internal parasites in one of our Oscars (Jelly). He has the long white dangling poop and is now staying at the bottom of the tank and almost laying sideways at times. Wish us luck!

Right now the only sign i see of internal parasites is stringy poop and i’ve seen Molly, Paullie and Mr. Pac-Man poop like that. They all still have a very good appetite thankfully. I’m going to take this as an indicator to treat all my fishies and i’m so thankful for your informative video that shows where to begin 😭 i’d be very clueless otherwise.
@KaveManAquatics2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure! If they only have the stringy poop but are still eating good, and no sunken belly, I wouldnt medicate. They could just be adjusting to the food you're feeding. Remember the white stringy poop is just 1 of a few signs....Hold of on the meds for now as long as they're still eating well.
@retnacelis11042 жыл бұрын
@@KaveManAquatics thank you so much!! i will definitely keep a look out for the other signs and take action if i see any other signs. we just got through fighting Ick a couple of weeks ago and i didn’t want to medicate them so soon after that. thankfully all of them recovered from ick and my tank has been ick free for a few weeks now ☺️ also, thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment

Hi Kev, "Lets Go". 😄😄. I'm a subscriber. I love your videos because they are easy to follow and understand. They are very informative as well. I have 2 Tetra fish that are not eating and I don't see any long white stringy poop coming from them. There are no signs of Ick either. The pink one is very active but the blue one spends a lot of time at the bottom of the tank hiding. The blue one has also become very pale in color with sunken belly. He will swim around at times. So I saw one of your videos on why your fish have stopped eating. You said to change the brand of food, I did to a more vitamin riched food with smaller pellets. I also ordered Seachem Metroplex and Seachem Focus. As for the Seachem Garlic Guard do you recommend using fresh garlic juice?? Also saw another of your videos saying that I can treat the whole tank, I only have those 2 fish anyway for now. You also mentioned Epsom Salt mixture can be added to tank as well with these above named products. How often do I do water changes if any and for how many days do I treat???

Ty for the best video on the subject Ive found! Since I only have one tank so quarantining new fish isnt an option, doesnt this method really threat the tank or do the fish eventually get re-infected due to parasite eggs and what not in the tank ? Or better said, how often does this need to be repeated in order for the tank itself to become parasite free ? Depends on the parasite lifecycle I guess so in the case of nano fish how long would they take daily cocktails ?
@KaveManAquatics2 жыл бұрын
This may blow your mind but....Parasites are always in your tank, and mine! When our fish get stressed is when they catch disease. By keeping them stress free they will stay disease-free. Once they do have parasites though this method will help eliminate them.

thank you for the informative video and walkthrough of symptoms! In your experience, is it common to have worm-type parasites especially in bottom feeders, where you need Levamisole and not Metronidazole? I had some clown loaches with chronic wasting and I'm really worried which approach to take as I read it could be either worms or amoeba/bacteria

Hello. I am a new subscriber & appreciate your content. My dwarf Gourami has been rubbing, has white stringy poop, lethargic, etc. Before I found this video, I dosed my community tank with Api general cure. I should add, this morning one of my fish were dead too. Sooooo... my question is, did you try api general cure ever, and was it successful? What else can you recommend for me since I already started using this other med for my tank? Thanks for your time, Tamara.

Great vid! I've heard if you let it dry the medication will bond to the food better? Thoughts?? I'm told to keep it refrigerated to avoid molding.

Thats correct, the longer you let it sit it will bond better. And if you’re prepping enough for multiple days then yes refrigerating is key 👍

Once again Thank you for your time! I just picked some Focus, Kanaplex, Metroplex and garlic guard. I opened each of the boxes. Metroplex had a very small amount in the bottle and Kanaplex had just a little more than the Metroplex. The Focus bottle wasn't full but much more than both of the already mentioned. Is this supposed to be like this or have I been gotten?

Hey Kev, I’ve been watching all your videos and when I saw the white string I knew exactly where to turn. Thanks. BIG QUESTION - why did this happen? Could it be the food I use?
@KaveManAquatics Жыл бұрын
It could definitely be the food, or the CHANGING of food. Sometimes they just need time to adjust to a new food. White stringy poop is just a symptom, so give them a few days and see if it clears on its own before starting the meds 😊

I love this idea, . Question I only have 1 ciclid, so how much should i mix? or If i mix like you did, can i keep it in a boul for a few days?

Hey Kev, you’re the go to man! You’ve got a video for every single thing I’m experiencing as a noob. When you say the quarantine combo (paraguard/metroplex) do I go half and half on each medication or full on each per serving?
@KaveManAquatics Жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you're finding the channel helpful! 😊 Go full dose of each for at least the first week!

I have been using the 1:5 ratio still even after the update. Fully just went by the video which was great! Ive been using this for 4 days and my question is. Do you think that will harm the fish?
