What an utterly superb finish to popping the mould. Give than man a beer!

The moment we've all been waiting for! If the shop door was open, I think you could have heard the collective cheer when the hull finally lifted. She looks wonderful so far! Excited to see what comes next.

Hello from Ontario Canada, that turned out even better than I anticipated!! Pretty clean inside the hull as well, a testament to your professionalism and perfectionist nature! Looking forward to watching this come together Cheers

Congratulations on the flip, you almost made it look too easy. It is simply a beautiful boat hull. Can't wait to see where it goes from here. Thank you for sharing these videos.

I wish I had more of your sweeping up ethic. As always, enjoyable and beautiful.

Was it just me or were you all really nervous when Mark was pulling on the creaking, cracking hull..? Great job!! Phew!

Ahhhhhh Marks a 'sweeper', prolly why his varnish job looks so good! Some folks are and some aren't... I'm not, but I do clean out the shop when ever starting a new build, I use a leaf blower 😅 Liked and Subscribed

Yes, I am a sweeper. Several times a day. I hate junk underfoot.

Practical use of a hive-tool you got :).

I’ve used those for twenty years before ever using one on a hive. It was always a glaziers tool in my book.

I worked alone most of my life and I like it that way. There are those times It would be nice to have one more person just for a couple of minutes.

Where have you been, Mark? I've been waiting to see this weird sailing-canoe-thingy the right way up........Enjoyed it? Loved it!! (Probably almost as much as you did).

Hi It looks great ( hate to say the floor does look a bit dirty). How may days have you been building ( not hours) ? Did the fore and aft balance look/feel okay? Keep going, waiting for the launch. David

Nice to finally see the boat right side up! How much of the cost is in the mold, and would a second boat of the "same" shape, reusing the mold, be cheaper?
@Nomadboatbuilding3 жыл бұрын
There was a fairly substantial amount of work that went into the mould but also designing, planning and making samples and such. It would be cheaper to build a second on the same mould but I don’t know off hand where the breakdown is.

hahaha! the moments we've all been waiting for! edge of my seat for the next steps. on a side note, do you have any footage of the end stages of the bouche dory and her sailing? I'm assuming you'll be keeping or maybe selling the mould for the 2.4, and that your client's buddies are going to start pounding on your door, if they haven't been already. what a weird design, clearly for fiberglass, and I'm still amazed that you're tackling it in wood. truly inspirational.

I'll be picking up where we left off on the Bouchie Dory as soon as I finish up this series. It’s just easier to concentrate one one at a time. I'm sitting on the mould but I'm not too sure I want to build another. I've got other projects to focus on first.

The big question is how did you do on weight? I would love to see the scratch pad and make some graphs about how much wood you started with, the amount lost in fitting, the amount lost in faring, glue and finish.
@Nomadboatbuilding3 жыл бұрын
In round numbers I believe we are at 20 kg at this point.

The "39second mark" : what Canoe is that in the background? Is that the one in the part one & part two video?
@Nomadboatbuilding3 жыл бұрын
I believe it is from one of those videos. Part 1 I think. It came back into the shop for repairs from damage. Working on it now.

What do you suppose it weighs at that point, just the bare hull?

20 kg if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately the camera wasn’t running at that point. I don’t remember why but I can’t take the time to document every moment in the build. Sorry about that.
