Thanks! Glad you liked the ride along to the junkyard. I don't get out to one very often, but it's always fun when I do.

When i used to work for IH we used to put the rocker arm shaft in the freezer to slide new rockers on new shafts.
@TheToolmanTim4 жыл бұрын
I ended up putting them together at room temp. Wish I had thought to freeze the shaft first.

The rear cam bearing supplies oil to the top of the engine. When they sit for a long time that bearing will stick to the cam. When started the bearing will spin making it so the oil can no longer flow to the upper part of the engine.

Nice vid. I had a Scout ll new in 78 with a 345. Rust took my baby too fast but she still lives on in my heart. I enjoyed the ride thru the junk yard, was that by chance some russian folk music we were listening to?
@TheToolmanTim4 жыл бұрын
I remember someone commenting on the Binderplanet forum that Scouts started rusting before they left the factory. Sorry for your loss. I always choose music from the KZbin audio library. The song in this video is called "Dude, Where's My Horse" by - Nat Keefe with The Bow Ties.

My daughter came in the room dancing to the music on the drive in to the parts yard. Do you happen to know what song that is?
@TheToolmanTim3 жыл бұрын
It's called "Dude, Where's My Horse" by Nat Keefe and the Bow Ties. You can find it in the KZbin Studio audio library or by searching for the song title in KZbin. Glad she enjoyed the tune.

I'm rebuilding a '65 304, and your videos are awesome.....much appreciated. Do you think the salvage up near you still have decent parts?

If you're looking for engine parts, I'd be more inclined to check with Windy Hills in New London, MN. In the distant past, I tried calling ahead and was told I need to come there in person. Things may have changed, but it's less than an hour from me, so I just drive out there. The guy who runs the place knows his inventory well. Good luck on your rebuild.

Can these engines be set up for Turbos or a Supercharger? If so, What mods need to be made?
@TheToolmanTim3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. I don't think an International SV engine is something people routinely hot rod. Go fast parts for them are nearly non-existent. The people looking for high revving horsepower usually opt for a small block swap.
@willrichards1003 жыл бұрын
Blowers are bolt on power for these. Stock low compression is pretty forgiving with turbos. EFI swap will make it a bit easier but you can build the oem carb fairly simply for a few lbs from a turbo. Two small Sabb turbos from a junk yard seems to be effective.

Hola amigo nesesito comprar kit completo de reparación motor donde lo puedo comprar

I found the parts I needed through a combination of Amazon, ebay, NAPA and Google searches using the original International Harvester part numbers. When you own an International, part searching is just part of the fun!

I’m gonna bite the bullet and get the adjustable rocker arm kit from Murphy’s motor service.

How’s the pick up doing?
@TheToolmanTim4 жыл бұрын
Last week I winterized and tucked the pick-up in for a long winter nap. I have the replacement engine mostly assembled. Next I'll stab in the distributor and a new set of plugs so I can fire it up. If that goes well, I will add a radiator to the stand so I can run it for an extended period of time. I want to shake it down good and fix any problems that arise while it is out of the truck and easy to get at. I will post additional videos as I make progress.
