My neighbor has been using the same Drott at his gold mine near Big Sur California for over 50 years.

Thank you for showing this. The (Drott) 4&1 was so versatile for its time.

My Grandfather invented the 4 in 1 when he told his engineers he want them to build one they told him it wouldn't work he said build it I'll make it work and he took it out in the woods and when it broke he knew what needed improvement
I have the Allis chalmers HD6 track loader and saw all the references in the service manual to the optional Drott 4 in 1 bucket but never really saw the advantage. Now I'm searching for one, just being able to grapple rocks and stumps without renting an excavator is massive.

Three machines were on top at that time. 1) AC 2) Cat and 3) International.There were closed or open buckets available for the International..

Yeah the 4 in 1 bucket easily doubles the work a machine can do, my grandpa has a 555e backhoe with one its a game changer.

I had a Matchbox toy of one of those in the early sixties.

Drott, made in Wausau Wisconsin. Old plant on old US 51 on the hill by the river. Drott if not bought out by J.I.Case in the early 60's who knows where they would have been. they had a lot of quality especially in the up and coming hydraulic excavators. Innovation I think they would have been huge if not bought out.
@shandfan Жыл бұрын
Just THAT's why bought out! There've been huge CATs having,except their transmission no hydraulic at all,but a cable drawing system to move the bucket.And that system had,.like Drott also a name of its own.That was TRACKSON.(up to now no info on the internet,but maybe recently?)

Nice old machines. This loader was in between big and small size back in the day. Realisticaly, this was not a machine for loading big dump trucks. This was a good machine for working in tight spots, like backfilling basements, or a sidewalk job.
@shandfan Жыл бұрын
Begin 60s often replaced by the International Payloader wheel loaders.And many could not handle these machines.( switching in a wrong gear while operating,as a result major spinning and wearing out of the tires)

Very cool dozer. There are so many things you can do with it. Huge IH fan. I will hopefully be buying these for sale near me for $1000. It’s a smaller model though. The trailer in the video is cool and so are the truck. It would be cool to have a setup like this even today to haul it around

A truly classic crawler!,these were built under licence here in Britain and along with the Cat 951 were the most popular type of machine over here for many years,they were usually painted yellow here but i do remember a particularly nice red one!
@shandfan Жыл бұрын
The later types were red painted indeed.But the International Cases remained yellow.

The International BTD 6 was the British version of the TD 9 and had a tiny smaller size,but the bucket was of the same size. There was a little modell of this item in the Match Box Series. Both of the models had the red colour. Coming in operation mid 50s to begin 60s.(in Holland,that is)

3:36...his finger slips, the clam opens too much, and all the planks he is loading slide down the loader arms and kill the driver. MEGA!

38Highbury yeah that’s why equipment now has a roof or ROP system to protect the operator

A wonderful machine.But..consisting of various parts,manufactured by others than International. Such as the engine and the tracks were from CAT. But what does that matter?!
@Wingnut353 Жыл бұрын
IHC was a competitor to CAT... there is literally not one CAT part on that machine, its 100% IHC + DROTT. Also internationl built the gas-diesel engines early models stemmed from a german design still, nothing to do with CAT. The tracks are also an international design and have nothing to do with CAT.

@@Wingnut353 Well.....American International IHCyellow schoolbusses,running with CAT diesels,purported to be not true EITHER? The greatest competitor to CAT is still KOMATSU and yes,...they are the biggest enemies!! In the States lots of factories use each others parts.Great engine manufacturers from WW2 still are Continental/Hercules (for the army trucks,while lots of them later were replaced by Cummins Diesels with air brakes,such as DiamondT,WardlaFrance and Federal))Please...broaden your horizon!
