When you could buy something make it pay for itself AND make a profit with it. now it's just pay for it.

The 7288 had silmilar sized 2 wheel drives back then but the 7488's competition all came from 4WD tractors.There wouldn't be a 200hp 2wheel drive row crop until 1989.This 7488is a really impressive site to see.

You had to use the neighbors field to turn around with them anteaters.

They turn sharper than a 2 wheel drive.

This concept will be brought back to life within 5 years: There is just no way you can transfer the power of the biggest 936, 8000 series and Magnums without bigger wheels, which will decrease the turning radius too much on a conventional steerign axle. Still a great conept.

@netrioter and thats why Steiger was at 425 hp by this time compared to "235 hp" LOL.

You do realize that IH owned part of Steiger and Steiger was building IH High Horsepower tractors?

Nothing like a deere

st 525 was the biggest steiger they made, steiger made the frames for all articulated IH 4wd tractors from 1972, 4366.
@netrioter13 жыл бұрын
Steiger spanked all of these tractors.....thats why IH Case still makes all 4wd tractors as "Steigers".
@J-14104 жыл бұрын
IH's Goal with the 2+2 was not to compete with Steiger, which it, at the time, owned 1/3 of. The 2+2 was to be the most efficient conventional tractor with very little wheel slip. CIH even made a prototype magnum 2+2
@MrLuckytrucker2111 жыл бұрын
ihc should have never invested in the 2+2 line of tractors, it was a waste of money to develop and make, when there money needed to go to more important parts of the company, but that's one of the reasons ihc went belly up.
@MillerFamilyFarms2 жыл бұрын
It was the people in charge of IH that put the company belly up. Bad management but a great company that made great products
