An original dealer training slideshow on crawler loader/dozer undercarriage training.
This video goes over the basics of undercarriage design, inspection, wear, and selection. Components such as grousers, sprockets, idlers, rails, and rollers are discussed in this presentation as well as maintenance.
If you are a Squatch253 viewer this might help you understand the Cat D2 undercarriage rebuild, as the concepts are similar.
Sadly a few of the slides were missing from this slideshow.
International Harvester competed with Caterpillar, Allis Chalmers, Oliver/Cletrac, and John Deere in the crawler market. Manufacturing Bulldozers, Agricultural crawlers, and track loaders for the world market. IH was one of the largest manufacturers of tracked equipment in its day.
International TD-25, TD-24, TD-20, TD-18, TD-15, TD-14, TD-9, TD-8, TD-7, TD-6, TD-5, crawlers/dozers. 250, 175, 150, 125, and 100 crawler loaders.

I worked in the parts department of an International Harvester Equipment dealership during my high school and college years. Everything was produced and shipped from Libertyville, Illinois. Great quality in all of the parts we stocked, sold and used in the re-build and repair shop. The reason for the end of International Construction Equipment is that Komatsu Manufacturing bought all of their facilities in order to gain a foothold in the American market. At some point in the 1960's Komatsu bought International Machines, had them shipped to Japan, took them apart and re-engineered the Dozers, Loaders and Wheel Loaders. Komatsu also bought the Galion Manufacturing facilities in Galion, Ohio to further expand their footprint in America. I miss those years learning how things where manufactured, taken apart and repaired! The dealership also sold Galion, Hough Loaders, Vac All, Mauldin Rollers, and Drott Excavators. Only the Mauldin and Vac All companies have survived! Thanks for posting this video, it brings back memories.

Not to be rude, but you skipped the dresser years and the sale to them in 82! Then komatsu bought dresser years later!

Hello Desert Truck & Tractor: Awesome video!!! I like that he calls the track chain a chain & not a rail, as most in these parts do. For the life of me, I don't know why. A sprocket drives a CHAIN, not a RAIL. Owner of a TD15C.

Thank You for the video , if someone made a better bulldozer than International I'd like to know who ? Pretty good tough built tractors ! They over built everything back then . You could take a TD- 25 C dozer with full rock guards and run the track chain to nothing and never derail it on a steep slope . Damn good Engineering !

Crane & Rigging I was lucky to work for a company that had 125 Loader's, and 175 Loader's. That 175 you could hardly tell the bucket was full. Meany a time I was rolling material over the top. They were just built Strong. On a main line sewer job we did they had a Case 850 Loader. Just because and only because of the stick power shift controls on case, it had faster ground speed for running long runs to pea gravel. The Case went faster so they used it on main line. But boy loading the bucket with the 125 loader put that case to shame. You put the Case loader up beside the 125, and just looking at the two, you could tell the International was built stronger on all parts of the machine.

@@rp1645 That's pretty cool RP ! The IH Heavy equipment line in the 1960's & 70's was top's in my opinion . Or teacher in Vocational Tech school was a mechanic in the Navy during WWII on a smaller gun boat powered by 6 6-71 Detroit Diesels . Then after the war he went to work for International Harvester . Needless to say the class was always interesting and he was a big influence to me !

@@cranerigging3604 I was in ARMY 75 to 81 on a 45 foot Tug boat ST-2154 we were a support company. 20+ LCM-8s, YES I remember those Jimmy's well. Went back to Virginia. They had a building full of them on stands. We did every kind of repair trouble shot you can believe in. Myself today I own a 8-71 in a Fire Engine 1971 SeaGrave I'm restoration in too. Also a 353 in my favorite Backhoe a 190 Dynahoe. Both Engines have run great for my needs. I am in Love with old school Detroit's, they just are so interesting in design. Have had the 8-71 run backwards, just shut it down. And start her again. Never had a runaway

I'm not current on the 20 series crawlers availability but some good places to check with would be Winmill Equipment in the northeast(New Hampshire/Vermont), FP Smith in Fairfield California, or Brown International Services in Canada. They used to and/or are IH/Dresser/Dressta dealers and still deal in parts for these machines. I generally work on the smaller machines but I have all the parts books somewhere.

Unfortunately there are no current sources for new undercarriage parts for a TD-14A. Good used is your only choice. I was at Fresno Tractor in California this summer and they had a few TD-14A parts machines with usable undercarriage still.
