Ethan Jerome Leota, UNESCO Aotearoa Youth Leader reads the message from Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, on the occasion of International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.
Commemorations for International Holocaust Remembrance Day took place across Aotearoa New Zealand in honour and remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust and marking the 77th-anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp by the Soviet Army in 1945. The theme for this year’s commemorative events was resistance.
HCNZ and all who took part in the commemorations recommitted themselves to fighting Holocaust distortion and denial, racism, antisemitism, discrimination, and apathy.
Venue: Waikato Museum
MC: Kristopher Clancy, HCNZ Education Director
