International legion in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - who are they?

Foreigners defending Ukraine at the call of the heart. The exact number of such foreign military in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is not called. But, according to unofficial data, these are tens of thousands of military personnel from 55 countries. They participated in the battle for Kharkiv and in the de-occupation of several Ukrainian settlements. They are called the International Legion. Who are these people? I’m proud of every fighter for good in Ukraine, but the foreign volunteers who are in Ukraine to protect its people without knowing anyone there or having any connection to the country, they hold a special place in my heart. I seriously considered going, although I have no military combat experience. I am proficient with weapons, am fit especially for my age, and do not scare easy, BUT I couldn't assure I wouldn't end up being a hindrance as I can not know how well I would do until I was there. I also have two young children I am responsible for. However, it's them that make the urge to go help as strong as it is because I know what a loss here could mean for the world and I don't think it's fair that only Ukrainians are putting up the defence for the rest of the "free world". Ultimately, I decided I shouldn't, but I will always regret not being able to do more. I will hold those fighting in my stead in the higest of honors in my heart and will forever be in their debt no matter the outcome. My gratitude is beyond words!

I think you're best off at home, taking care of your children-they'll need you for years to come. If you went and got badly hurt, it would really affect your ability to raise children. It seems what Ukraine needs most is more weapons, ammunition, etc. I get very frustrated seeing the atrocities, too, but as a veteran pushing 60, I'm helping Ukraine more right here by sending money for food distribution. I have friends in a Slavic church right across town that have direct contacts in Ukraine that distribute the food to hungry civilians.

Russia should take note of how many countries are represented in the Foreign Legion of volunteers and try to understand WHY this is. Russia is fighting a bad, brutal, illegal war of aggression last seen in WWII. In that war the free democracies rallied around the side of right and eventually won. Countries run by aggressive dictators that oppress their people with lies and no freedom of opposition will find that their regime will eventually fail and fall with a crash. Hitler and Putin have both hijacked great civilized countries to pursue their own ambitions, and their first ambition is to hold on to power no matter what it costs their country. This is, once again, the time for great democracies to stand together and bring a just end to a senseless and terrible war. The perpetrators and leaders of this war against Ukraine must be brought down and especially brought to trial. They are responsible for the senseless loss of tens of thousands of Ukrainian and Russian lives, the destruction of both country’s economies and damage to world economies. There can be no negotiation with dictators who wage war on their neighbors. They must not be allowed to claim any kind of a win in any form. If they are allowed a win of any kind then the world will regret it. They must go so the world can heal.

The people running the training program were not qualified. Many of us went the private road to train outside of the legion with great success. Appreciate the comments but it's not the entire story

These people may deliver hot meals , ammo, or milk for babies all with bombs flying overhead. These are the unspoken of this war of liberation .
