In 2014, Ukraine was under siege and the military was unprepared. Desperate, the government urged anyone to get to the front and fight the Russian-backed separatists. As the war drags on, Ukraine claims their military is now in control and the volunteers have all been disbanded. But we tracked down some rogue volunteers still out there fighting, not prepared to hand over their weapons anytime soon.

But as we saw after 2014, politically they have no support in Ukraine, just about 1,5% want them to be in goverment. I lived in Belgium for 15 years, and I wish Ukraine and Russia followed example of settling Flemish-Valoon and Flemish-Dutch disputes: linguistically, legal residents should vote in referendum for being in Ukraine or RUSSIA, including exclaves and inclaves, etc. I.e., Crimea and other Russian speaking areas should allow their legal residentd to decide on their future. No war. Looks so easy, almost too easy to be true. That's especially clear in the "drinking" scene. First he suggests they are perceived as bad guys, then he whispers to the camera "I heard them say fuck the police...". This isn't honest journalism. Vice should be ashamed of sending an errand boy to any war zone, especially with the intention of getting a firefight.

Did you miss the torches at the end? Or the one guy saying how "blood and soil changes everything," while pointing to a blood and soil banner? Or the fact that Santa is an anarchist? Or the fact that the first 2 commander guys said they would never submit to the military? You need a better mis-translation example. The one you gave is only arguing semantics; it doesn't change the guy's message. He still said he would fight the government.

Asking the president 'in control' of a rogue military with many black book activities "are you sure" and somehow walking out of his office has me baffled. If the camera wasn't there you could tell the president would've shown him a thing or two in the office
