Dear Laurie - your travel tips have been a wonderful help to me! I watch as many as possible and always learn something new. Here are some in return from me. We have gone twice a year to Lake Como and LOVE it, except in the summer (we only went once then and it was hot and crowded with European families). Spring and fall (shoulder seasons) are our favorites. In many areas the Italians are elegantly dressed. My favorite travel pants are Talbots everyday stretch straight leg. A bit heavier than many, but can be dressed up or down and the soft knit holds its shape even on a long flight.. Only 3 colors, but a wide size range. On Cloud 5 are my best walking shoes, as you have pointed out they have waterproof ones in a few colors. (Ecco doesn’t fit me as well.). I use the little gemice no leak containers based on your recommendation and love them! Never a leak and I packed 10 days worth in them. Since we go often I bought a curling iron and heating pad with Euro plugs - not so costly when you compare converters, adapters, etc. The hotel concierge helped us locate the heating pad, and the curling iron was at a hardware store in the window! Be sure to take the Ferries that go around the lake - it’s fun, and each little town has a bit different character. The ferries are cheap enough that working people take them daily to and from their workplaces. Happy Travels!

What beautiful locations!!! Loved Garda! Can’t believe the hardware store had the curling iron. 😂

Swiss here! While we’re not part of the European Union, we’re definitely part of the continent of Europe, especially as we’re surrounded by other countries and don’t have access to the coast😁 08:20 While we use a 3 pin socket. the 2-pin you showed at 07:20 will work here. Remember that the United Kingdom and Ireland have a completely different socket so remember to bring the correct adapter there too. If you’re visiting there plus mainland Europe, you can get adapters with multiple different types of plug.

I love the jacket. It would be so handy to not have to keep up with it when I am not wearing it. For toilet paper, I just take one pocket pack of tissues in my bag. If I’ve depleted those on the trip, I’ll just use what’s in my hotel room and put a day's worth of toilet paper in a baggie.

I put my smallest compression cube and a carabiner for my coat in the pocket when I'm flying in the winter to my hot destination. When the plane warms up, I stuff the coat in the cube and use it for a pillow on the plane then attach the carabiner to the handle of the compression cube and attach it to my personal bag/ backpack to get off the plane.

Hello Laurie. Just back from a 3 week tour of Europe. I used so so many of your hacks and tips while packing for this trip. I have been using packing cubes for some time but I moved to compression cubes which were a game changer. The cubes were the best as we were actually living out of suitcases and often found ourselves in a different hotel each night. Kept us organized....especially my husband. I also was worried about pic pockets and a friend also warned us of this. I took your recommendation and purchased the clips to put on zippers of my backpack and sling bag. Worked great. The kit I ordered came with various sizes and quite a few so was able to share with family members who joined us. Even your ideas of packing and to layer outfits was great and I invested in some great walking shoes that went with everything. Thank you for your tips and tricks as it made this trip and packing so easy. I recommend your channel often. I even shared with my sister in law and she picked up a few tips as well for this trip!

I have traveled internationally a lot and have yet to be questioned about my meds. And I agree Laurie, it is important to bring adapters with usb outlets as some hotels are older and usb outlets are few. I also suggest that if you can leave your hairdryer home and use hotel dryer it cuts down on appliances and space in your luggage! And I wear the Dr Scholl compression socks that you wear and they are fabulous for airplane. I am a diabetic and they are perfect for my feet and legs! Great vid as always!

I use a small clear crossbody as my plane bag. It is the type you would use to get into stadiums and events. It fits in the seat back and I can see my items without digging in my bag. I carry it in the airport as my purse, being careful to hide my wallet and passport in the middle and behind other objects. I just have to remember to move my hand lotion over to it after security and to leave room for it in my personal item until I get past the gate agents.

A few weeks ago I watched one of your videos where you talked about the water resistant pants that you mentioned in this video. Because they came in petite size, I ordered a navy and dark gray pair. Even with Amazon Prime, only one pair came in time to take on our Mediterranean cruise. I love them! I wore them on the day we went to the beach in Nice, France, where the water splashed up getting on my pants, but they dried super fast and were perfect for the day! I may have to buy them in some different colors. So comfy,they fit my 5’2” frame perfectly (petite)and I love the zipper pockets. You briefly touched on bathrooms in Europe. My experience has been that they are usually very clean but you will probably have to pay .50€ to use public toilets. It would be a good idea to have tissues on hand because one place we were at in Portugal or Spain, it free to use them but if you wanted to use toilet paper, that cost.50€. 😝 Thanks for all the advice you give!

Thank you for your videos! I am watching them again for any tips I might have missed previously. My upcoming International trip is in 10 days. I started putting together a capsule wardrobe per your suggestion, so I don't over pack like I have in the past! 😆 But I have a dilemma. I am taking my London Fog trench coat and was going to pack a rain coat too but was thinking instead of packing the raincoat, to throw in my denim jacket instead. Since the trench coat is water resistant and if I am also bringing an umbrella, do you think I really need to bring my rain coat too? Going by the typical weather forecast for Istanbul in November, it averages to about 10-12 days of rain. So, I am thinking I can get by without the raincoat. Or if worse comes to worse, I can always buy a raincoat there if Istanbul gets more rain than expected. 🙃 Sheesh, I know I overthinking this!

Lori, what suggestions do you have for Aqua Alta in Venice? Interested in foldable rubber boots that can be worn over shoes.

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie It's the high water that usually floods St. Mark square at certain times of the year by the high tides of the lagoon. We will be there next October and were worried about walking around in flooded streets.

Apple no longer carries the trifold charger for airpods, iphones and Apple watches. They do have an alternative available. I love, love, love your content. I travel a lot (can’t do a carry on for trips, tho) and do many of the things you suggest. You can always teach an old dog new tricks! Keep up the great work!

Oh no! Hmm I’ll do research to find the best.

Those little containers that you use for decanting do leak. I have used them twice, and twice they leaked. Even after I was so careful not to get shampoo or conditioner on the seal area, no luck. Any suggestions?
@TravelTipsbyLaurieАй бұрын
The shallow ones will if you do not use thick lotion. Mine have never leaked. If you take more, the GoToob are great for more amount.

You probably don't travel economy hence more liberties with the carryons you could bring. on international flights, i can never know when security agents would ban me from having a crossbody bag on me in addition to the one carryon luggage i'm allowed, so i try to have layers of tops with pockets on them, pants with pockets on them. i also did this so i could meet the 15# carryon limit. with all that you packed, did you meet the 15# limit? did you have a crossbody bag/belt bag/fanny pack on you in the cabin?

Hi we bought tickets United going and did not have to weigh and returning bought tix on KLM and did have to weigh coming from Budapest to Amsterdam. I was under but do not remember the weight. Hubby’s was too heavy but his suitcase is steel. We were allowed a personal item bag and I wore a crossbody bag. Hope that helps.

For our recent trip to London, we took two adapters - didn't need to use either one, as the hotel room was equipped (to charge two iPhones, two iPads, 2 sets of ear buds. I would suggest something I think you mentioned a while back - and I thought was a great idea, but neglected to do, - was to take some command strip hooks. Our bathroom had only one hook, and no towel rail, so these would have been ideal. We opted for the green service (which meant we didn't get room cleaning/linen service every day) and the towels remained wet without anywhere to hang them.
@TravelTipsbyLaurieАй бұрын
Thanks; we have needed them the 3 Europe trips this year and last Christmas. The only drawback of the hooks is sometimes they can take the paint off.

If you have precheck the liquids can stay in the bag. But liquids are supposed to be in a clear quart sized bag and be prepared to take it out if needed.

Switzerland not part of Europe? I'm sure that'll be a surprise to the Swiss. 😂 Europe & the EU (European Union) are two different things. Switzerland is definitely in Europe but not in the EU. 😊
