Just got back to Berlin from Minsk again 2 days ago, heading for Kyiv again in 2 days .. in the meantime catching up with the latest vodcast! Always impressed by how Conor manages to spread a 5 minute content over 45 minutes;) I agree that especially styles in Kyiv morphed from post soviet back in 2006 when I visited first into pretty much “berlinesque” these days. Maydan, internet, arrival of more western fast fashion chains, and visa free travel all played their part imho

@@ConorClyneNewEurope 2 types come into my mind : 1) educated and pretty girls having a good job and living in a big city like Moscow or SPB. They are not looking for a white knight nor a sponsor but they do appreciate, for instance, a guy from western europe who is educated, have some artistic fiber, a good job, looking ok and is below 40. 2) Girls who do still live in the middle of nowhere in Russia or Ukraine and are still looking for someone to help them to live in western europe. They would be less picky than the first ones but will use a westerner as a springboard. Personally , i am mostly familiar with type 1) (rather than type 2) or all the other girls you talk about in the video)

Maybe the declining birth rate in the 90s in post-Soviet and post-Communist countries has some impact here. If that generation was unusually small the number of women available now in their 20s will be smaller than previously. And more men in other parts of the world also seem ready to pay for European female beauty.
