Usually, when you stick two singles players together and make them play doubles, they don't do so well. But Stan and Roger are a legit really good doubles pair!
@victorbicudo1374
@victorbicudo1374 2 жыл бұрын
where did you get that idea? singles players are better than doubles players in all aspects, and when they team up, they usually sweep specialists with ease.
@DeeeFoo
@DeeeFoo 2 жыл бұрын
@@victorbicudo1374 They might be better at singles, but that doesn't necessarily translate to doubles. Stan and Roger aren't just two random singles players who happened to win prestigious doubles titles purely using their singles "prowess". They also just happened to be excellent doubles players as well, and they cooperate well together. Same applies to Kyrgios/Kokkinakis. They won the AO because they're they're good doubles players period. Put Djokovic in a doubles match against any Top10 doubles team and you'll see my point.

@@DeeeFoo Absolutely! And in Federer's biography, I learned that they brought in a doubles specialist coach to work with them on patterns and doubles-specific strategy!

@@ileanasantamaria2364 which very likely made them the most scarily unplayable doubles in whole tennis history. in just a few specific training session. At Olympic they didn't train so much together because Roger was heavily involved with singles... here instead they showed their full mind blowing, lethal potential. They literally don't have any weakness, their shot production is like one of the best ever, they serve with pinpoint accuracy, and just look at Federer position at returning serve. Ah, and they volley like hell. What can you do against that?

Wawrinka won the Davis Cup and the Olympic Gold in doubles with Federer. Fed is lucky to have another countryman like Stan to deliver two of the biggest prizes in the sport.

Awww golly. I really miss the original davis cup. Best quality tennis as these were big important matches, they could rest and be fresh mentally and physically and they always played their best tennis. Add in they were representing their people and their natio they would always be willing fight for the match. Sad to see what it has become

What do you think Roger Federer is saying to Stan Wawrinka? “Hey man, do you think you could hit the ball a little harder? I think they might have seen that one.” LOL 😆

I have looked it up on google and from what I could find, if I included their Olympic matches in 2008 it is 22 wins to 10 losses. That is the closest I could find for all their doubles matches.

I wonder if Nike forced Federer to wear their red shirt with their logo rather than the Suisse red uniform top that Wawrinka is wearing, similar to how they made MJ drape an American flag over the Reebok logo on the Dream Team warmups on the gold medal stand 🤔

*_SOOO_* nice not having commentators. Blurting out shit like "that's amazing", "you've got to be kidding me" etc - as if we can't see what's going on. I don't mind it when former greats give us tactical, historical or psychological insights. But normal commentators are a waste of time.

Both traind and played together since they where kids. Federer is just a bit more talented then Stan. Who needed more time to get to the top. In the end Switzerland was lucky/unlucky at the same time. To have the 2 best ever in this sport to play in the same time period.
