No mention of Scania? If the Americans can build the engines to the same standard as in Sweden. Then it's a winning combination.

The engine is jointly developed by International, Scania, and MAN. Which all are part of the same group. But yes, this is a big and expected trend now in our (American) diesel industry. Aside from Cummins, many other manufacturers such as Prevost (Volvo), Detroit Diesel through Freightliner (Mercedes-Benz), and now International (I was thinking more MAN but it seems Scania is doing more of the development for the US engines) have started using more European designs in their engine. The Europeans are simply better at making diesel engines than the Americans with exception to Cummins who hold their own and are typically favored for their parts network and simpler designs.

Scania is now the Swedish sister company to International and Germanys MAN trucks under Traton. So I expect to see more MAN and Scania components in newer Internationals. The same happened with Freightliner and newer Detroit Diesels now using Mercedes-Benz designs.

How well does the S13 perform in altitudes from 6000’ to 14,000 ft above sea level in hot weather going up steep grades both on and off highway applications?
@terrellscaife2411 Жыл бұрын
So what is the difference between the S13 and the A26
@acd1202 Жыл бұрын
The A26 is an MAN engine at the end if it's life, the S13 is a brand new Scania.

From what I heard it's even 150lbs lighter than the A26 , more fuel efficient, produces less soot, 500hp

i wonder if they figured out how to build trucks WITHOUT electrical problems.everyone i drove over 22 years had something electrical that either didnt work.or worked intermittantly.i must admit, i only ever lost headlights while going 65mph at night once.that was enough for me.i guess thats why the old timers called them "13 letter sh•t spreaders".
