I wanna thank Erik for this video. My mom works for her city WATER DEPARTMENT and one of these ‘auditors’ came in and harassed her staff with multiple cameras and a crayon press pass. The auditor conveniently edited out the part in the video where they went into private offices with sensitive information (there is security camera footage and witness statements for this). My mom and her coworker were DOXXED in the video AND description, so they’ve been the recipients of death threats and hate for over a month now. People are calling for them to lose their jobs, be sued, be charged with felonies, etc. for protecting their staff. It’s been very hard for them. The whole ‘I’m not doing anything wrong’ act by these auditors makes me sick. They KNOW how uncomfortable they make people, and they weaponize it. Government employees are, in fact, human beings. Even if you don’t like the government, that’s no excuse to be an absolute codfish to people who just have to earn a living.

Ultimately I don't think you can trust him for legal advice, but a lot of it is common sense enough, where you don't need a lawyer to know who was in the wrong. There have been a bunch of "first amendment auditors" at the local public library. It's a common thing now sadly. Of course since it's a public space there aren't any rules against it. They demand certain government documents even if there is nearby state library open to the public that is specifically funded for that purpose. Most of the library auditors dress in tacticool gear to look intimidating (but you never see footage of them looking like that unless someone else films them). It's funny they have uploaded zero footage from our library. That's because our staff knows the law and is helpful to everyone. They only upload videos where they manage to annoy or distress low paid library clerks who have no idea what is going on. And that is somehow "proof" that a public space is not in accordance to the first amendment. I would have at least a tiny bit of understanding for these "auditors" if they shared any of the footage of librarians being professional and helpful towards them. But it's just about farming views for the vast majority of these dweebs who have nothing better to do.
