I don't usually like to start shit in the comments of videos, especially ones that are obviously meant as comedy, but I have to say, that guy couldn't be more wrong about comfort animals. I was particularly upset by his line about 'the biggest difference between comfort animals and therapists' (5:15). Every therapist I've ever met has died exactly twelve years after they met me, to the day. Those in the industry who know of me refer to me as "The Annihilator." Let me emphasize- not just therapists I have made appointments with. Every last one of them that I've ever met. Every so often, I'll be having a pleasant conversation with a stranger, only to be struck with sickened horror when I ask what they do for a living and they casually respond that they're a psychologist. I do not know why this happens, if this is some bizarre version of the philosophy that nothing is truly impossible in a world full of unpredictable events and coincidences or if I am truly some cursed creature, perhaps something of the devil's own creation. Of course, seeking help would only put more blood on my hands. Instead, I remain reclusive. Haunted. Paranoid. So, in conclusion, the REAL biggest difference between animals and therapists is that I don't mean to kill therapists.

I really don't like Maddox and his format. He is a psuedo-intellectual. Even when he is right he is wrong about why he is right. He is just an angry guy sharing poorly understood research on the internet with an incredibly one sided viewpoint. At first I thought he was a satire channel and it was a joke about internet arrogance and misuse of the term 'scepticism'... But it seems like he just really thinks highly of his opinion and is a fan of the logical fallacy 'blinding with science'. Quoting a random study and claiming it backs you up isn't actually the same thing as proof. In the academic community there are levels in which critical thinking is applied. Cherry picking studies that agree with you and ignoring the ones that don't is not good practice. It's also not a good idea to ignore the peer reviews of the study you quote. And if there are no peer reviews and you are qualified then perhaps you should try and verify the validity of that study. Publishing the same opinion over and over again without new research or review and justifying it with similar opinions that have no new research or review is a big problem in academia. I recognize that Maddox is an entertainer and not an academic... But it still leads to both the spread of misinformation and a misunderstanding of the scientific method. There is much more nuance and ambiguity to scientific understanding. Yes there are scientific facts but claiming that every study that shows some correlation or theorised a concept is 'fact' blurs the lines of scientific truth. There are a ton of things that Maddox has published where the scientific community is in near unanimous disagreement in their conclusions to him. But because of the way that Maddox delivers his opinions as scientific fact many of his fans treat the subjects he covers as 'debunked' or 'solved' when in fact new research is being conducted on a daily basis. I kinda see people like Maddox as part of this culture of psuedo-rationalism that has become popular amongst what was KZbin atheists. They were good at being right when it came to young earth creationism... But when they started branching out into more nuanced or social topics... It was clear that these guys had no idea how to be smart. They only knew how to be standing from the point of having the evidence supporting you and shouting down at those who lacked evidence. When the evidence wasn't on their side though they just jumped straight into shit flinging contests. It's a shame but I think it taught a lot of people a good lesson about 'debate' culture. You can 'win' an argument and still not have a clue. Debate isn't how we advance the limits of human knowledge. Only research and experience can do that. Seeing so many people fighting over things they have no qualified understanding of makes me feel depressed at the state of internet culture. Bush did 9/11

Piorn it's a long fucking story and since he's not really important, there aren't really any reliable source on it. The gist of it is that he hosted a podcast with a dude who goes by Dick Masterson a few years ago where they argued about shit every week. Initially, Maddox was by far the most famous of the two and brought in most of the audience but around the time Donald Trump came in, they got a lot more politically divisive because Dick adored Donald Trump more than anyone else and Maddox hated him and even made a crappy animation calling him a racist. Big mistake on Maddox's part because most of his audience was pretty right wing (Maddox's content was always generally sort of "though conservative" shtick) and sided with Dick on this as well as a bunch of other philosophical and social differences. Then one day the podcast just doesn't have Dick on it anymore and Maddox says nothing about it. It goes on like that a few weeks with either just Maddox or a clip show of older episodes getting uploaded again until Dick reveals he was kicked off the podcast. Maddox said it was for talking shit about him privately (there were some PMs between Dick and a fan where Dick was insulting him and saying they weren't friends). Maddox ends the podcast, doesn't mention Dick. They both make separate ones, Dick's is hugely successful and Maddox's bombs because basically the whole audience switched from Maddox fans to Dick fans. Seems like Maddox pissed off their mutual friends too, some of whom appeared initially on both shows but seemed to end up just doing Dick's show instead. Now nobody likes Maddox.

When you're farther from the bowl (as when standing), the pee has more time to accelerate which means more kinetic energy has to be dissipated during the impact with the bowl water. Greater energy means a bigger splash and more droplets that spray farther from the impact site. Not to mention that when sitting down, even if a splash did have enough energy to make it out of the bowl, it would almost certainly be blocked by your butt and legs, which prevents it from getting on the floor/wall/etc.
