I've been a vegetarian for decades. At one point, I converted to veganism, and joined a Vegan FB group for support. In that week, there was a plane crash, and someone commented something along the lines of "good riddance to meat eaters". It upset me so much I went out and bought an egg sandwich. Never looked back. I'm not playing for that team.

Even when in the same comment I specified that I had no problem with vegans in general, it’s just that 1 specific type of vegan I hate because they are honestly horrible people. Honestly considering some of the things I’ve experienced from my interactions with the vegan community, a good chunk of it is very toxic and this even happening seems entirely plausible.

Yeah, I agree with this. What's worse is that it was raw. Any raw food has chance for disease, so not only was she being really inhumane (she needs to learn about .22LR, or some hunting caliber idk), and also really unsanitary. The preparation too was awful, if you're gonna cut the hood of the squid make sure the thing's dead (humanely, of course). I get a lot of people eat raw seafood, but it's still an inherent risk at the core of it.

As a marine biologist this disturbs me a whole other lever knowing how smart and sweet more squids/octopuses are like most of them are the nice most curious little creatures they are also incredibly smart and most important CAN FEEL PAIN like if it was a sea urchin or a jellyfish it would be disturbing but they atleast don’t feel pain/have nerves and would not feel as much pain (urchins would only know that air is getting into the shell/creature while the jellyfish would likely die before she could get it to her torture room because of how easy they dry up/ dye from being unable to move in a small tank

I'll put it this way, as a native american I've been taught to love and respect each animal, as they're the true providers, so yes. I love animals, but i also eat them.
