I think Andreas can come across as a bit tense at times - I think he is not totally comfortable in front of an audience - and you can see he's not totally comfortable here. And that's one of the reasons I trust Andreas so much - because he is primarily an intellectual, a technologist, a computer scientist, a scholar - for Andreas it is knowledge that is of the paramount importance - and that's the kind of person I want to hear from. Andreas's book 'Mastering Bitcoin' is a classic - what a wonderful text - the art of technical writing - I got so much out of this book - it really set me on firm ground with understanding Bitcoin. Andreas contributes so massively much to this space.

Rycons Rycons Bitcoin Cash was created by a hardfork of Bitcoin. Everyone who had Bitcoin on August 1st got the same amount Bitcoin Cash. They created BCash because the transaction fees of Bitcoin got to high. They Increased the blocksize from 1mb to 4mb to reduce them. Now the point is that it isn’t the right way to reduce the fees. Bitcoin Core developers ( real Bitcoin) are working hard to implement the lightning network in to Bitcoin what would be a network on top of the actual Blockchain to create peer to peer payment channels to reduce the Blockchain traffic and the need of bigger blocks. Segregated witness (Segwit) was implemented during a softfork of Bitcoin so Bitcoin is compatible to lightning. Bitcoin Cash didn’t implement Segwit. Imagine Bitcoin would etablish more and more, we would need bigger and bigger blocks. Maybe we would need in future 1GB blocks to process all transactions. That’s 1GB every 10minutes, or 144Gb everyday that need to be captured in to the Blockchain. This could cause a centralized Blockchain and the experiment has failed. Sorry if I made spelling mistakes, English isn’t my native speak. Best Regards!

Blockchain is changing the world. Not bitcoin. Bitcoin is old 2009 tech which has no place in the current blockchain space. Just look at the other alts like Ethereum, NEO, etc. Bitcoin is like an old typewriter in comparison.

Etherium is like the shitstain of the crypto currency world... 'SMART' contracts are actually dumb contracts that no one wants to get trapped into! The creators of Etherium already demonstrated that to their investors when they intentionally wrote a dumb contract for the dao, just so they could show how they can finagle money out of people by trapping them into a badly coded contract that they didn't realize was badly coded. BTC doesn't have a complex layer like that which can be programmed poorly intentionally... You can build another layer to do distributed code, and have the secure BTC layer on top! That's the right way to do something like that! Keep money as money, build other systems on top of it instead of building it INTO the system!

Money is a language ??? naaahh .. I would say it is a "amount" used as one part in a trade, and that amount is a subset of an individually controlled quantity that ... 1. can only be reduced by the decision of the individual(s) who has access to that quantity 2. that the reduction in that quantity can only occur if that exact "amount" is added to another quantity (whether or not that quantity is accessible by one or more individuals)

Its called 'Block chain' technology, It does have borders , Like China, Its not money. Its a digital item, That has a value linked to it via the stock market. It can be traded ,like anything else, you buy it, later you could sell the coin, If you make profit I am sure you are open to sales tax like with anything else you sell. People can take the coin as payment, same as they now have the option to accept rice or a table as payment for something instead of money. This is not money. What is ground breaking is 'block chain'. A shared record. So if one computer is hacked the other computers with the shared record will notice it is wrong. The block chain is encrypted which involves mining. You need very fast GPU's for mining. This is driving the GPU industry. This is also helping the artificial intelligence industry. Bitcoin is like digital gold because there is a max of 20,000,000 coins - As people spend more to buy the coins the value of the coin increases, Its not money. It will grow in value, improve in function with smart contracts which will really help the world do business. Money will always remain. Bitcoin is an item, but like any item it can be used to trade for goods, similar to how I can swap a table for coffee. Right now Bitcoin is increasing in value, so people mostly are trading bitcoin for money & not items. Money remains. The coins are digital items which can be sold or traded - A table is a real world item which can be sold or traded. Countries that outlaw crypto coins will be left behind in a weaker position. I think China banned the coin because they didnt want people to get rich, They need to maintain a cheap labour workforce to keep the worlds factories going. Im sure rich Chinese investor simply bought coins outside of China. It will return to legal in China after the price rises so the poor cannot benefit. Same for Morocco. The price is going up & down now related to happy and scare news stories related to wall street stock market. While the coin is on the way up. People will speculate so the price will rise & drop often. Long term for some coins its going to rise and Im sure some coins will decrease also. So many new jobs will be created linked to this market. Its great.

It is money! Just wait until the paper money in your wallet doesn't come from a central bank either! It'll be paper money with a block chain, cryptographically secured so you can know it's legit! A 1 BTC Paper note :D The paper will be different than the crypto though in that it won't be transferable digitally, so you couldn't just swipe the 1BTC off the paper money, the person who has the paper note has the 1 BTC! :D

Imagine how different today's business landscape would be if those who spoke negatively about the World Wide Web in the 90s, claiming it would consume all of Earth's energy, had prevailed. Similarly, skeptics once dismissed email, insisting it would never gain widespread use. Now, with Bitcoin, we see another revolutionary technology challenging conventional wisdom, echoing the historical pattern of skepticism preceding adoption and innovation.

So eventually when cryptocurrency becomes the main currency of internet, will Online products have stable BTC price and fluctuating USD price? For example, right now BTC is going up every hour so it costs more USD to buy 1 BTC. Therefore, if you pay with BTC to buy an iphone, it may cost 0.1 BTC now but 0.09 BTC an hour later, while it stays $800 USD the entire time. So in the future the prices will be marked with BTC and people who pay with USD will have to pay with different amount of USD to buy a certain product.

Andreas makes some bold claims about bitcoin but I am not convinced at all. It is well known since biblical times that only two things in life is certain - death and taxes. I have watched many of these videos on blockchain and bitcoin and whilst blockchain technology is certainly here to stay, I am yet to hear anyone irrefutable articulate how bitcoin fits into present tax system to make it a worthwhile currency and means of exchange. I am no economist and have very little understanding of finance but I certainly understand how society works. Tax pays for schools, infrastructure, healthcare, security and broadly underpins the nation state. Paying tax is essentially a contract that most citizens involuntary sign up to when they are born. This seems incompatible with bitcoin technology which is anonymous and unregulated. A fundamental element of tax is value and the stability of that intrinsic value of the money or currency used, which ensures that the recipient receives the expected value during an exchange or payment. It is simply ridiculous to pay tax using a currency that wildly fluctuates and whose value cannot be assured when an exchange is made. Just ask Zimbabweans about the realities of a wildly fluctuating currency. Money of whatever currency is inherently a promise so some may use that line of argument to suggest that bitcoin is no different. That is true yet, a promise must be credible for it to have value. You would not exchange your house on the promise that all your needs will be met if you only believe in God. Besides, the credibility of the promise rests in the power to secure the fulfilment of that promise. In organised societies, that power resides in the the state. The state is the only entity that can lawfully use force or power to secure the fulfilment of that promise. So currencies that bypass the state have no place in organized societies that function only because of an effective system of tax collection. However you perceive money, whether as digital currencies, tokens, notes or assets - any exchange of these are only credible as far as there is a kind of power that gives you the assurance of benefiting from the expected value within it. If bitcoin of itself was a meaningful promise, then it should not need to be valued against existing currencies but against desirable commodities and assets. Yet, it is always valued against state currencies for the very reason that such currencies are promises backed by a credible force that assures their value on exchange or payment.

Tax is theft. Inflation is theft. The latter is a form of the former but even worse: there is no representation associated with it. We can certainly find ways to pay for roads and any other infrastructure the current government system is doing incredibly poorly. Healthcare? Which healthcare are you referring to? The corporate big pharma that pushes opiates on the masses and lobbies the corrupt bureaucrats to make laws that prevent people from using homeopathic, natural alternatives, from treating their children suffering from grand mal seizures effectively with cbd oil? Oh, that HEALTHcare? The healthcare that benefits from the huge array of cancers that are destroying the health of billions due to corporations pumping toxins into our food supply? The current fiat system doesn't even require taxes, btw. Big government can easily expand itself to crowd out the private sector easily by borrowing from the private bankers... who create the money for them out of thin air as soon as the bloated government wants to get yet more debt. Btw, the infrastructure of this country is crumbling while the bloated corporate controlled government spends vast sums on a largely unnecessary military expenses, sponsoring more empire building, more regime change, more death and destruction. Please explain to me how that is, in any way, a) sustainable b) just and moral c) necessary??

Why did he have to say "money has no value itself"? That's correct but the moneyness comes from three uses (not merely a "language", which it isn't, actually9: store of value, payment medium and accounting unit. 3 uses (utility, which + priority = value) which give it value (and value is subjective, always).

Dear sir, the company that the primary bitcoin developers belong to have bankers involved! Please explain to me how this is not an absolute conflict to what bitcoin is about! Do you honestly think that they are not going to bring in lots of fees and make it centralized? If you read the white papers of Satoshi Nakamoto bitcoincash is far closer to vision. I loved bitcoin and what it stood for but again are the bankers going to allow the true bitcoin? This makes absolutely no sense at all! Please convince me differently, I am open minded! I truly hate to say this but I think there is a lot of paying off going on. Again bitcoinCash is the true bitcoin because they are not working with the banks and they are following Satoshi Nakamoto vision! I apologize if I am coming across harsh but I am really upset how bitcoin belongs to the banks now! I followed you sir for a few years and I have always loved your amazing talent but I am very confused with the direction of bitcoin and I don't hear you saying anything regarding the Banks being involved! Why? I am open minded please convince me differently. Thank you, Charles

@ 20:00, "I was talking about changing the world, and these people don't know how an exchange works." Maybe some entry level courses for these people first, before talking to adults.
