My elder sister tried the mason jar trick one time at my moms... she jumped behind me as shards of glass hurdled at us, and chocolate shake went everywhere. I am the one stuck with the scars, and my mother's kitchen curtains are forever stained with the painful memory of that lost chocolate shake. Long story short, this doesn't work with some blenders, so be careful to check that the blades aren't too close to the glass when you spin them to ensure you aren't accidentally eviscerated by your chocolate shake.

Honestly, it's the same with all the other options out there, when I hear younger people (I'm 34) talk about being environmentally friendly and see that they have an electric bike, I can't help but wonder how incredibly good we are going to take care of all those batteries that reached end-of-life and how massively polluting it's going to be, along with all the other stuff that runs on batteries for no good reason (and the same is true for the whole Internet-of-things thing, like, seriously, are going to put power consuming modules in devices that really don't need it only because of the hype of "OMG I can now access it through the internet!") I am equally appalled by people fawning over streaming services and cloud-based storage: next to the implications of not owning anything like a license to be allowed to hold a physical copy of a disk, the privacy risks of cloud-based storage and the risk of "We decided to end your profile without prior notice and you have now lost everything", I'm mostly concerned by the excessive use of power all those streaming services and cloud-based storage requires. Same with people who seemingly can't plan ahead (and like I get it if your time is incredibly limited) and order stuff from Amazon literally each day, there's a house in my street that sees a van from them each day...
@L834672 жыл бұрын
@@Dutch3DMaster i agree with you with almost everything but do keep in mind that an electric bike produces fewer emissions than a gas car and has a smaller battery (hence less waste) than an electric car. i'd much rather someone use an electric bike than a car. though, of course, we do need to think of how we will deal with that waste in the future, regardless of how little waste it may be in comparison.

They've also been getting plenty of lawsuits from angry customers and have started laying off employees to pay legal costs and as it's ongoing more of their food has been linked to people suddenly developing organ issues. That's if you were to make smoothies as a fun snack. I use smoothies as a meal replacement for breakfast or lunches. For me it's easier to drink a whole lot of calories than to eat it all. So in other words, spending money on smoothies can also be a money saver.

I recently started looking at the frozen aisle for berries, veggies and meats. It’s actually pretty good. Since it’s frozen, they don’t need preservatives. I can also keep them in my fridge forever when things like strawberries spoil in a few days.

Definitely will look into their website for some recipes LOL

The recipe thing never made sense to me. I had a free trial with Hello Fresh and used the app to follow the recipes because the paper one they sent got wet and ripped, but I didn’t continue my subscription because I do not have that much disposable income to spend more on 3 meals than I would a weeks worth of groceries, but I can still use the app and use their hundreds of really good recipes, without having to buy the shoddy produce from them.
@kittenmimi53263 жыл бұрын
I believe everyone who has the time and wanna save some good amount of money should attempt to cook... I mean as long as they took precautions to not burn down their house. All they need to do is search up recipes, read it (surely people know how to read?) And follow it down to a T. It's not that complicated, and after they will find out how much of a scam everything is, subscriptions, a lot of restaurants... if they can follow directions, n therefore can cook, then that's it. Half price off everything. Any cuisine you like, from all over the world as long as you have ingredients and equipment. Fine dining etc is bullshit, you can do at home if you wanna.

As a person who almost worked for them, the employee discount is 30%. I told them in the initial interview that I go to Whole Foods + Trader Joe’s and DIY everything for $2 a serving (everything clean) and it didn’t sit well. I live in NYC, and still, $7 is cheaper than the $12 throw away breakfast at Liquiteria or Juice Press (the main smoothie shops), but then you wake up your 3 roommates at 6 am and still have to clean your blender. 🤷🏻♀️ Their stuff is legit fresh. If you live in a city that’s all food desert and rats and you live alone in a $2,500/month 1 bedroom, then it’s worth it. It’s made for those types of people. People who lose money just by running errands for an hour, don’t have immediate access to decent groceries, and work high-stress high paid jobs. So many people in my apartment building subscribe to it and also Hungry Root. Works for them. 🤷🏻♀️

But the majority of food deserts have people in poverty who cannot afford to drive to the grocery store and buy produce there. What makes you think they can invest in this when fast food seems to be the only way they can use their money to get enough calories to function?
