What is the professional title of the person that analyzes human urine? Amazing video here. Very well done, and well thought out. Excellent progression of the topic(s).
@StrongMed2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! If the person is not a physician and primarily works in the clinical lab, they are referred to as either a medical lab technician, or a urinalysis technician if they only deal with urine. Nephrologists (kidney doctors) also will occasionally examine urine under the microscope, but always leave the urine dipstick to the technicians.

I'm going to give your web site to his parents and I hope this encourages him to look into the profession further. You have a natual way of explaining the complex into simple terms. ps. if this does encourage him to look into medical school, I can see his dad now, putting a for sale sign on his 32 street rod the very next day. These are great! What software do you use to make these? I want to make some for some trainings that my office needs to take. thanks!
@StrongMed8 жыл бұрын
Most of the images are PowerPoint slides which are exported as individual png files. The narration is recorded using free software called Audacity. Then I synch the png files and narration in Adobe Premiere. For the more complex images, I use Illustrator, Photoshop, or Fireworks, depending on exactly what I want to do. The occasional animation is created within Premiere. I'm relatively particular with my videos, so this workflow is more complicated and slower than most. I think a much more common approach is to use Camtasia to record narration as you run through a PowerPoint presentation while in PowerPoint - without use of additional video editting software. It's much faster that way, but I don't think the final product is quite the same. All depends on what you are going for.

Sir I have a question.. Does lignocaine in uirne used for catherization affects urinalysis?? As We often catheterize patients using lignocaine..
@StrongMed Жыл бұрын
There are reports that lignocaine (a.k.a. lidocaine) can cause a false positive urine drug screen - depending on which specific assay is used, but it will not affect a conventional urinalysis (i.e. what's discussed in this particular short video series)

Why urine analysis is important before a surgery?
@StrongMed3 жыл бұрын
If the surgery is on the urinary system, including the urethra, bladder, and ureters, a UA is checked because treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria (i.e. bacteria in the bladder & urethra) is thought to reduce risk of post-operative infection - in that specific type of surgery. In general, checking UAs prior to other forms of surgery is not indicated, and can result in unnecessary antibiotics and unjustifiable delays in surgery. This is an old, largely outdated practice that some older docs still hold on to. One reference (there are many others): www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6255075/

@@StrongMed sir/mam can urinalysis also detect if you have PROSTATE problems. such as Enlarge prostate or prostitis?? thanks
@StrongMed3 жыл бұрын
@@mrboo3049 A urinalysis is not helpful at all for detecting an enlarged prostate. It can *potentially* detect prostatitis by either finding white blood cells, or less commonly red blood cells, in the urine - but those findings are not specific for the diagnosis. (i.e. most men with WBCs or RBCs detected on a UA do *not* have prostatitis).

what are white stringy bits in urine?
@StrongMed3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like urine mucus, which can be normal, particularly if only happening occasionally and if not associated with any other symptoms. However, anyone noticing this happening frequently and/or if there is associated pain with urination, unusual color to the urine, or any other potentially relevant symptoms, the person should speak with a health care professional to see if a urinalysis or other testing is indicated.

hi random doctors I feel pain sometimes while peeing I don't wanna tell my parents because I'm afraid that this have to do something with masterbation so is it risky not to?
@StrongMed7 жыл бұрын
Pain while peeing can be the sign of a urinary tract infection. It should be evaluated by a health care professional as it may need to be treated. It is very unlikely to be related to masturbation. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide more specific medical advice on here. If you don't feel comfortable discussing this with your parents, please consider discussing it with your school nurse. Keep in mind however, that the school nurse may or may not be required to uphold confidentiality from your parents, depending on your school's policies and the applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
