Paragon was one of the First Moba's I ever played so to see it come back after 5 years I'm hyped. Definitely will try overprime but I think I'll end up on predecessor as it looks closer to the original paragon.

I think I’m def leaning towards Predecessor, I just don’t trust Overprimes dev team history personally. Also the Predecessor gameplay is more reminiscent of the true Paragon gameplay to me.

Avoiding the "True" statement, you are right to have concerns about Overprime's development. I can appreciate that Inter doesn't want to dive in to unneeded drama, but fact is that NetEase is a pretty shit mobile game developer/publisher company and that really hasn't ever bode well for us in the past. Plus they still have a boner for Blockchain and NFT game mechanics and, yeah, those.

Omeda studios LOVED the original Paragon from 5 years ago. So much so that they have been working their ass off to bring it back to those of us who found it near and dear to our hearts. RGSACE was a great youtuber back in the day for the original Paragon and is now the CEO of Omeda. The passion alone these guys have and the open transparency about their monetization is commendable. Don't get me wrong though I believe Overprime is fun in its own way and I won't be uninstalling it anytime soon but I have been missing the original Paragon Moba from years back and that's what Predecessor is. I want to add something too. I played Overprime since their first test back in January and the next closed tests and all were free, they even said some sources wanted the EA to be P2P like Predecessor but they declined and has been free since the day one which was december 8. They fixed that issue of lack of heroes and we got 11 for free + the rotation, this isnt a way to make you pay its a way to keep you playing like every F2P does. Obviously woudl be such a bad idea do the same on Pred being pay. I played Paragon since the first closed alpha back in 2016 and as I can deny they've the esense of the original game I can't deny too the real facts of Overprime, you can say they love the game too cuz in 1 week we got a lot of fixes based in community feedback, they put a lot of effort in character and skins quality, they changed the terms and privacy since the polemic that generated and even reduce the price of skins (and you can buy somes without real money), we got the winter map like the original Paragon and they keep putting love in the game. Both games are being loved and both games deserve to be loved since have a "fresh version" of the game its always good bc people rn love more faster action games but still needing farming and strategy. As an "old original Paragon player" im happy with both projects, playing both games and wishing the best succesful development to both.

Overprime looks faster and more fun. Paragon failed for a reason so if Predecesor is the same thing there's not a lot going for it. Also Overprime team is bigger, have more resources and better communication.

I totally prefer OP over Predecessor even though I can't stand NetEase. Just feels better to me, more characters, a sprint key, jungling feels better, I like the UI better. Pred gives you free-look and and spray paint to t-bag on kills tho lol. The games rank VERY close to me, but I just slightly prefer Overprime.

While the release is important we will eventually get to know how each dev team manages the game which will decide in my opinion which one will be the more successful overall. No. Overprime is the asian version of Paragon. So it is more similar to these kind of games (like Black Desert Online) Predecessor is the one that looks closer to what Paragon originally was.

That one Overprime test I did where assassins were OP as hell left such a bad taste in my mouth that I didn't join the last test and I have played the early access. I have seen the game is more balanced now but they also added the portals which look very not fun. Meanwhile, my only problem with Predecessor is the lack of build and roster diversity. It gets really old playing the same 3 carries with the same few builds.

@@002inter I've played games in overprime where we would easily lose teamfights because of a team's gold gap. But just by going for buffs, guardian and that yellow deer thing (forgot :D) We can easily turn the tide n push them into their base. Overprime does have strategy to it especially with item builds too and the portalsss, it makes ganking so much easier + with the latest update that came out like 2 days ago, it became a bit more balanced and fun to navigate the map.

What interests me more than anything is that these games aren't as popular as let's say Fortnite, with all the respect for grown adults but it's so rare to find people of my age to play with and it seems weird if I LFG with specific age-ranges. I think I'm just afraid to open up to all ages for fear of seeming too less "mature" even though I'm 22 yo. Also, it would be even harder for me to start looking for people to play with in the first place. All the friends I've made in other games left me or replaced me with someone who could afford to buy more games or season passes than me so yeah...

The Predecessor team seems like they're working to prove they can make the game. Where as Netmarble have nothing to prove and way more resources when it comes to, even just, Epic Games support. All that Predecessor needs to do is prove that it can return value on the investment by players, they don't need to innovate, just a working base game is enough to give players what they want. Netmarble has way more to prove and way less motivating them to prove it. If anything all they want is to ride the interest generated by predecessor. Especially getting their game out first and free first. Once Predecessor either succeeds or fails it will be interesting to see what happens to Overprime

So Overprime has come further in development overall, is f2p and has a bigger playerbase (most likely due to f2p). Why should you play Predecessor over Overprime then? One of the most important things in an online game is the playerbase, right? If I look at steam right now, Predecessor is sitting at 1.3k players, while Overprime has almost 11k players. even with all of that predecessor is juts honestly a lot better in terms of actual in game things, it looks a lot better, runs more smoothly, etc. when I was playing overprime I ran into like id say about 10 different minor bugs and 1 that was more of a major bug in the 4 hours I played. I haven't come across any bugs while playing predecessor. I think predecessor is being very stupid by making the game paid early access as its gonna lose them the game race in the end with a much smaller player base but only time will tell ig

Don't be fooled, anyone saying Overprime is not a moba is just not correct. It's a moba, that's just a fact. Queue times in Pred are fairly standard, approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute. I've played both, and me personally, I don't really plan on going back to Pred. It's not a bad game, but just inferior to Overprime. Overprime is far more engaging, has many more basic features that help immersion (voice lines, music, better sound quality, weight and impact on attacks and abilities) and is much more new player friendly. I got one of my friends into it and he had never played a moba before. The Predecessor community being toxic to the point of going into Overprime and trolling games there also doesn't help. If you really want to pay $20 to play Pred right now you can, especially if you prefer it, but if not, just stick with Overprime.

They both have all the assets from Paragon. They'll have the same base heroes Paragon had plus whatever original heroes they design themselves. In my opinion, even though they use the same assets the games play and feel a lot different.

I just really hate the clunky and overcomplicated shop. I miss the cards. They were simple and easy to switch between in-game. I don't have time to thumb through and combine items when I'm trying to win a game.

They simplified the visual and made it less clunky compared to other similar games. It was nice to finally have an option where the screen wasn't overloaded with descriptions and items. I was very vocal from the start about how much I loved it so this comment is directed at the wrong person. No one HAS to listen but I was putting my two cents in as a fan and regular player of the game.

I like Overprime more coz it's fast paced and has few more stuff. But also is lacking in terms of controller compatibility and certain heroes need to be nerfed, mainly 3 of them: Contessa, Greystone and Iggy&Scorch. The rest to me is better.

Predecessor has been fantastic. The original creator of Paragon(Steve superville)is actually an advisor to the project and it really shows. Predecessor is a great MOBA and OVerprimes is a good hero brawler

Ok, so coming from an outsider's perspective, these games just seem too similar to make me play both, despite some differences. From what I've heard in the comments, Predecessor is slower, Overprime is faster, and Predecessor seems to have good support from the old Paragon players, but Overprime would maybe appeal more to casual players who knows nothing of Paragon. Predecessor is taking it safe, just trying to appeal to the Paragon playerbase, while Overprime is taking a riskier path, I heard that the devs completely reworked the game (which of course introduced bugs), and also they got that "grind-to-unlock" thingy... But me? Ha, I guess I'll just play the game that will survive, because I don't expect these games to coexist in the long run, these are both some sort of Moba.

Overprime no announced plans to come to console? Update your video. The GStar event video advertised the game will be on console. And overprime was shown running on ps5 nearly a year ago. A couple weeks ago the development team showed they are using a ps4 development kit as well. This video is poorly researched.

Paragon was successful, it had more than a million of users, it had way more players than smite. Just wasn't as successful as Fortnite and Epic games decided to stop working in Paragon and move all resources to Fortnite battleroyale, but in terms of popularity it was a popular game with a enough big stable player base

@@muglokdecrepitus1301 it was great and better than smite at the beginning of its life I gave that since I was there since the early alpha play tests and almost till its dying breath, I stopped playing smite altogether when paragon was out and I already had spent thousands of hours and hundreds of dollars so I know it was good at the start and I was damn sure it was boring af at the end, in fact it became boring since the change of map from agora (later renamed legacy) to monolith, then the multiple changes in game play and itemization, fortnite was just the final nail in paragon's coffin, player base was already almost non-existent when fortnite started to get popular. I saw and still see a lot of people on denial about that fact, paragon became boring and that's why it died, that's a fact not an opinion, it's just plain dumb to think ANY company would get rid of something "successful" just because another thing they make its way more successful.

Short answer: Predecessor. Overprime looks 0 like original Paragon. It looks more like a generic Asian mmo that is released every second.

Idk why nobody talks about the gameplay differences between these two games. In predecessor everyone gets wards and a mid range teleport. EVERYONE. FOR FREE In Overprime the jungle has normal minions and boss minions. The boss minions each have their own abilities. In predecessor the jungle has small minion and big minion. Only difference is size and health pool. The verticality is predecessor is much more common. Yet somehow walls seem to be rounded and you can stand ontop of walls. You just slide off them. Corners are also super rounded with invisible walls. In overprime where vertically is less common ive been able to stand on any surface i can get to. None of it is a rounded invisible wall.

Pred is much more balanced and actually performs like a moba, very similar to how Paragon was. Not too impressed with Overprime besides looks.

False, Pred does not emulate the original Paragon game. In-fact, Over Prime emulates the original game during the Legacy Paragon days with travel mode, a more open map and even had the Prime orb dunk for a brief time. The people who think Pred emulates OG Paragon are the people who started playing Paragon during it's dying phase. The game was in a downhill spiral during the Monolith era and it' is why so many people stopped playing leading up to the Devs abandoning it. Why would they mimic a game that was dying? Sadly, I feel the same fate is in the future of Predecessor.

Pred doesn't have the same map as monolith, it is a compromise between monolith and legacy with the side lanes being much more open but not having a gigantic map size, monolith during the original deck building and card system was the best and most popular paragon ever was. It was the later "reworked" card system that killed the game

We all knew ( the original backers) the game was going to die after monolith...and it did.

Overprime sounds like a fun version, but 'OG Paragon' players sound like they'll be elitest within community. I would like to see both game models in one package tho. Overprime as arcade type - Predecessor for competitive mode. Haven't played either yet

Predecessor might be the better game ones it launches and goes f2p, but as of now, the playerbase is Predecessor sits at 1.3k while Overprime sits at almost 11k.

I love Pred, but for $20...it's almost impossible to get any of my friends to join me in playing. This needs to change soon. It's a pretty big cost of entry for an unproven game.

I never played the original paragon, so I had no preconceived notions going into both games. Overprime was the obvious choice after about 15 hours of both. I feel pred is trying way to hard to be like smite and it just isn't anywhere near as good. But the real thing that did it for me was that pred has one of the WORST communities I have ever seen, I have never seen a community so hell bent on ruining everyone's fun, stalling games, being racist, and just generally being terrible people. If that's the community paragon had back in the day it's no wonder the game failed

I encountered someone not knowing what to do, but that's it. My first ever game in League I got called a monkey, useless, a degenerate and to go off myself because I just started the game and in general top down mobas. SMITE has people leave if you EVER dare to pick up their lane buff, even if it's an accident or late in the game where it doesn't matter, and I have around 800 hours in that game now. The league community loses their shit when a characters skins changes the body shape of their preferred champion. League buffing/nerfing is outta wack. I feel bad for Skarner, because not only did Skarner get nerfed, but assassin's in general got nerfed, and then jungle in general also got nerfed! Meanwhile Sett is sitting in a fucking great place right now. Let's not forget our demon boy Teemo, or the famous Yas 0-10 power spike. While Pred doesn't do this to my knowledge and testing. The reason I actually prefer SMITE to others is not only because it's third person, but it's one of the only mobas where you can play multiple gods in a shit ton of roles, especially if you're good. Ah Muzen Can can legit enter every role.

this fellow obviously like Overprime but for me looking for the original Paragon i got fooled tryin Overprime and i can tell you it s TOXIC horrible 12 years old swearing at you, bad optimization i easily do 100 fps in any game this one lags, broken items, i once had a game for 54 minutes litterally begging to end that much had enough of it but couldn t cause penalties, that white map which is the only one they got will eventually hurt your eyes after 4 games, heroes unbalanced etc not worth it will try Predeccesor see if it s really the esence of the creators of the original

OMG the meat riding for pred is insane. I believe OP will 100 percent take pred. Just look at the player count steam charts. OP already has a numbers advantage and its FTP. Look at their discord as well they have a console release on the way. someone please tell me how pred is better? its literally underwhelming and the audacity for them to charge for characters that were already out? flipping assets and selling them back to you when they were free. half the Original roster is missing from pred and for what? all that funding for what? read the early access bundle it says the next 4 characters to release will be "free" and then look at what those 4 characters will be. ASSET FLIPPING! I love OP cause that's how I remember paragon, unique sprint mechanic, the map being large and the jungle being intimidating. I understand the want for an important laning phase, but does anyone REALLY want to be held hostage in an infuriating game for 50+ minutes? It's the biggest turn off about DotA for 99% of people who try it. The longer games at least in DotA were up to 2.5 hours back in the day when the game was slower paced, I'm told it's changed, I'm not keen on finding out personally because of how miserable being stuck in a game for that long, it wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't the threat of having my account banned for leaving early, but come on man. I guess find me the psychopaths who WANT longer games in MOBAs, I would love to hear what made them want something as incredibly unhinged as just under hour long matches on average since even 40 min average games like that of Predecessor/OP are considered 'long' by LoL/Smite player standards.
