My second cousin was intersex, but no one knew in my family (i.e. My mum didn't know, and neither did I, but my grandmother knew since "he" was a child). "His" name was Keiji, and he was born in 60s, and when he was born he had both genitalia. Doctors asked his parents (My great aunt and uncle) which gender they wanted this child to be, and they immediately said they wanted a boy. So, Keiji underwent several surgeries all the way up until he was 13, or so to have his vaginal canal sewn up, ovaries removed, womb removed, and eventually breasts removed. Now my mum being his first cousin never knew, and neither did any of my mums siblings. My grandmother told us about him literally like 3-4 years ago, and it was a shock to my mum. So, my mum grew up with him, and saw that he had some emotional issues, and also turned to drugs when he was a teenager. My mum thought he was a typical drug addict. Several years later, when he was in his 30s, his family found him dead in a tree from what looked like a drug overdose, but many of us in the family suspected that he purposely overdosed aka committed suicide, but we didn't know why. We just thought he was getting depressed with his life, so he ended it. Many many years after he passed, my grandmother told us the truth about him. Now it makes so much sense as to why he was so depressed in life, and never fit in. I personally wonder if he felt he was really supposed to be a girl, and struggled with his parents choosing his gender for him. Keiji knew he was intersex (they called him a hermaphrodite back then) growing up, and I think it caused him great strife, confusion, and sorrow. I think he was confused as to who he was, and had a hard time identifying with the gender his parents chose for him, or forced on him. Once I heard his story, I started to understand what it must be like to be born intersex, and not have much choice in the gender chosen for you. I never knew anything about intersex people before, but once I heard Keiji's story, I did a lot of research on intersex individuals, and I have come to realize it's much more complex than people think. If I ever had an intersex child, I wouldn't have any surgeries performed, and once they are grown up, if they want to choose a gender, then that's their choice, as I'd never want to make the wrong choice for my child. I hope more people can be educated on intersex children/people, and realize that it's something they can't control, and it's something that's ultimately their choice if they want to choose a gender, or maybe not change anything at all. Either way, I think it's up to the person, and if they choose not to change anything, and live with both genders, we as a society need to learn to accept all people, and love everyone with the same level of respect, and compassion.

I suspect he was born with intermediate genitalia -- somewhere between male and female genitals. Imagine!! It was challenging enough to come out as gay back in the 60s and earlier. There was even MORE ignorance surrounding being intersex. I could only imagine what your second cousin must have experienced.

My friend’s daughter just had testes removed and I mentioned AIS to her. I was familiar with it prior to seeing your channel and she became extremely upset. I explained there is no other explanation I know for internal testes on a girl. Do you think she is in denial?
@TheEllenMellon7 жыл бұрын
Kendra Blackwell Is she as educated on intersex people as you? I would encourage her to learn and educate herself more before subjecting her daughter to more possibly unnecessary surgeries.
@kenni_blvck7 жыл бұрын
TheEllenMellon she is a LVN so she should comprehend, they told her after the surgery that they weren’t male testes after all. The word choice I feel is really suggestive of what pidgeon has described. I think they said that to make her feel better about the surgery, if they weren’t male testes then what were they?
@TheEllenMellon7 жыл бұрын
Right. It sounds like they are trying to sugar coat (unnecessary) to "normalize" and "feminize." I am not positive, but I would hope your friend researches on her own and questions the doctors more in the future! She is going to be her daughter's number one advocate.... so the more she speaks up for her the better.
@kenni_blvck7 жыл бұрын
TheEllenMellon I so agree! I don’t want to push the issue any further because people get very sensitive about their kids, but I want her to understand what happens.
@alzbetaressnerova79306 жыл бұрын
they are usually taking out the testes because they are causing cancer often (since they are "locked" in the body where they should not be) so it might not be about feminising anything. people with internal testes look like women and usually, they don't even know that they are genetically male until they want to have kids. Not every intersex is the same. there are different causes for this condition.

Hi Pidgeon, thanks to one of Ash's video, I just started watching yours. It seems you and I have a friend in common. I've known Lynnel a few years now. I have had the privilege to meet and get to know several intersex individuals now. Each of them are uniquely beautiful souls. I personally identify as Transgender so I can't specifically understand everything you have been through but I do empathize with you. I hope one day we can stop the barbaric practice of the many surgeries intersex individuals are subjected to. No one should have their genitals mutilated, unless you are an adult and consented to it to a medical professional for your own reasons.

I would love to know more about intersexed community. It sounds like there is a complex set of circumstances going on with intersexed persons. You look very androgenous. I think there should be a section on our forms and official documents to include this as a third sex; male, female, intersexed. We need to recognize our diversity and celebrate it and it woulld be so much better for those who want no surgery. I was watching a youtube video about a intersexed guy who had his on kid. He seemed to have donated sperm and ova. Mind blowing.

Pidgeon, you are so beautiful. You are a handsome young man and with a glam squad you'd be a gorgeous young woman. I like you bare faced where both take turns in your expressiveness. You have become so wise. You understand that the doctors didn't know better, and that your parents did what they thought to be best. But, you allow us to see the damage that can be done by not waiting and allowing the child to ask for what they need, which in a better world would be no change at all. But, this world was even worse just a few years ago. You are the pioneer who is allowing us to see for the first time, what this issue involves and how best to go forward. I am writing a book about how we have been duped into beliefs that prevent us from progressing as a species. The binary thing is one of them. God is both male and female, there can't be a father or a son without a mother. We are each both as biology will attest. Limiting ourselves to one or the other limits our potential as a human being and a spirit being. You are a living angel, the personification of both genders in one. The very definition of a spirit being. Your videos should be shown and discussed in classrooms.

In a video (I guess that it's in the intersex girlfriend) where Pidgeon says it's them or they
@anirbanbhattacharya33926 жыл бұрын
Gabriela Rodriguez Nope a male intersexed person would be represented as he and female intersexed with she. Here it would be she as she's clearly a girl maybe in mind she thinks herself as genderless but its her personal choice as many intersexed persons think about themselves as either male or female. Plus an intersexed person could lead a life of a male or female with the help of medications and surgery.
@t.w.d.g.27306 жыл бұрын
Anirban they clearly said they use the pronouns they and their. You dont get to assume for others
