In the other side, you are a bad not good guy who is a fan destroyer. But in the good side you are a really good vintage fan collector, fixer, restoration guy, and even take care of them

I don't have a bad side. The only time I destroy anything is if it is cheap Chinese junk, or is already beyond reasonable repair and is heading to the trash anyway. I have 3 full buildings of stuff that I have saved, and cannot keep every little thing. So might as well have some fun with something that is already headed to the trash before it goes there.

Nice demonstration on these Hoover vacuum cleaners, they're in decent shape and operate like they should. Once you get the motors oiled and cleaned they'll be good to go .. Even those ball bearing motors require lubrication too in my opinion , and perhaps a simple solution to that ugly corrosion is an sos pad . I like these old vacuum cleaners too, I enjoyed the video!
@WalterKnox2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have found that these ball bearings are generally packed with grease, but that turns hard and no longer does what it is supposed to do. I believe I can save these bearings by replacing the grease, although I have found in many cases once this type of bearing is bad enough to start making noise, lubrication is only a bandage as they have already damaged themselves from lack of lubrication and the bearings require replacement. Like I said, I don’t think that is the case with these particular machines, but I have seen that before and currently have an old eureka that I need to replace the bearings in. Also, not Hoover machines, they are interstate brand machines.
@CecilyCampbell2 жыл бұрын
Holy shit! That Interstate Compact vacuum had enough airflow power to (albeit just briefly) start up the box fan!
@WalterKnox2 жыл бұрын
yep. I saw that and was hoping that the camera would pick it up. That fan has quite heavy blades on it, and is due for an oiling, so it does not move extremely easy either. The machine really does have great airflow and powerful suction. I can't wait to get a hose for it. I use canister vacuums like this quite a lot and I can already tell this one preforms great.

@@WalterKnox So I test vacuums with a suction guage and digital hot wire anemometer to quantify their performance rather than rely on subjective impressions. To my surprise Tristar vacuums and many of their copies have surprisingly mild airflow. Since many vacuums require the hose be attached to turn on (many Mieles, most Kenmores, Riccar, Simplicity, etc., I always test vacuums at the hose end. Tristars new and old all seem to produce about 52 cfm airflow. I have swapped out the original 356 air watt Ametek motor for more powerful motors from Ametek, Electromotor and even one from a Kenmore Elite, just to see if I could get more power out of them. No luck. The best airflow from any Tristar so far is an A101G with a 600 air watt Panasonic motor from a Kenmore Elite. 56 cfm. Not much. That same motor in the Kenmore makes over 70 cfm. Patriots are only very slightly better at 56 cfm with the big Medick Aire exhaust filter. The best airflow I have seen from any of the Tristar copies would be from a Miracle Mate Platinum, 62 cfm or my Ghibli Vortech XR3000 which also produces 62 cfm. For comparison a Kenmore BC4027 produces 67 cfm, the Elite is over 70 cfm and my hairy chested Swedish made Royal Lux D795 generates 76-77 cfm. A Perfect C101 likewise produces 76-77 cfm. Tristars have restrictive, small diameter hoses and a very small exhaust opening. Those two things restrict airflow. The D795 has a 35 mm hose and a huge exhaust filter area.

Yes, I am aware. I don't plan on using them really, and for the video where I wasn't actually sucking anything up, there was no reason to buy cones for them.

Hey Walter, I have a Miele C3 Vacuum and I love it so very much! Unlike those, which are old and inefficient, it is modern and uses an efficient motor which will not run up the electric bill! It also looks a lot nicer and more modern! Mine is yellow, but they come in many colors! It is made of light weight high impact plastic! It also has an automatic cord reel so you do not have to play with rolling up the cord like that old junk! Also, it used disposable paper filter bags, so no need to shake out a nasty cloth bag like on those, you just remove it, throw it out and stick in a new one! It really does help to keep the house so very clean and it is just such a great Vacuum! It truly is the best vacuum on the planet! Anyway Walter, Have a great day and don't forget to pray! The lord will do so very awesome things for you!

@@WalterKnox Thank you… Even though I have the Miele C-3 machines. My fear is a prospective repair that I cannot do and will be expensive, I may sell them and get the "Compact- Tristar" machines.. They use a standard "Amteck" motor and can be supercharged with a 9 amp motor for best suction ( I like the look ) . The turquoise is my favorite..

@@1953childstar If you watch a German KZbinr Albay Staubsauger (Staubsauger is literally dirt sucker) he makes videos of Miele repairs. They are really simple machines to take apart and fix. He puts his thumb just so on the lid hinge and with one yank the whole lid is off! There are a few screws but everything seems to be designed to plug together, very few occasions where a wire has to be plugged into anything. I still laugh every time I watch him remove the fan housing from a Miele motor, three or four well aimed hits with a nylon hammer and the metal shell is rolling around on his work bench. About a minute later the brushes and armature are out. The whole time he is yammering away in a thick Bavarian accent, though the guy is I believe a Turk. At least you see a Turkish flag on the shop wall.
