Been there and been to Chimney Rock which is some distance (30 to 40 miles) east of Scott's Bluff. I have family in central part of Nebraska and will be in Nebraska this July. People think of flat land when they hear Nebraska, but go 20 to 30 miles north or south of the interstate (or in some places, less than 5 miles) from North Platte and westward, the landscape is hilly and less flat. When I was at Scott's Bluff, I stood in the deep wagon ruts from the Oregon and California Trails.

Thanks for sharing Kyle. This is one place I regret not visiting when in eastern Wyoming (enroute to the Black Hills) due to time constraints. At that time I visited Fort Laramie which is also another waypoint on the Oregon Trail. One could spend a solid week or more in this area exploring.

So nice to see the reader boards, and museum. Most people overlook that part of the experience, and including that part is just like the proverbial cherry on top! My dad's family homesteaded near there, a few miles west. I know that area well, and lived there for 3 years, back in high school in the 70s, when dad got tired of moving every few years, and went home! LOL! Dad used to race soapbox derby down that road back when he was a kid...YIKES! I loved it up on top of the bluffs, and went up there a lot...very quiet and peaceful, with great views. Thanks for the great vid, good sir.

Was here last year. This was one of the stops my family took on the way to Yellowstone National Park. Overall, ScottsBluff and Chimney Rock were actually pretty cool to visit. Lots of unique history with these places in relation to the Oregon Trial.

If you have the extra time, I highly recommend checking out my friend Mr. Beat video driving along the Oregon Trail. It’s very informative and he does it in a Tesla lol.

30 Years ago, when I drove a big rig out of Colorado, I would occasionally go to Scottsbluff to pick up Beet Pellets at the rendering plant... The smell of that facility was rather RIPE, to say the least. I used to stop at the Log Cabin Cafe on the way out of town and have their Giant Cheeseburger! I wonder if they're still there? That place was great...

Log Cabin is still up and running! And you’re right, the smell can be horrendous, especially in the hot summer months. 🤢

That's one of the places I've wanted to visit, if we can ever get to where we can travel and go out west (hoping to move to Oregon, Washington, or northern California). I didn't know until I was middle aged that my ancestors had a history on this continent - discovered that I was part American Indian and that some of my ancestors (tribal bloodlines) had been on one of the wagon trains (stopped east of the Rockies, however). I do know that they'd eventually went to Denver (where my Grandpa was born) and then eventually to California. My G Grandma was well known in Hollywood at that time, although she was never an actress, and my G Grandparents were close friends of Douglas Fairbanks Sr.. I'm pretty sure that they mentioned Scott's Bluff in the story they wrote down about the trip (I've got a copy stored away). There's a lot of interesting prehistoric and historic archaeology all along that stretch - from Windlass Hill through Guernsey and beyond.

Bison chips lit the fires that were used to cook the Bison... Kind of ironic, but as they say; "Any port in a storm". I've gotta get the Family back out to western Ne soon. It's been far too long!
