I watch this almost every day, so whenever I get annoyed or feel too tired for my kids then I realise that time is ticking away every second and can never be got back again. And the line “Because my dad promised me” make me determined never to break a promise to my children.

Right now this is my favorite movie. I've watched it 13 times, and probably just as many reactions to it. Your reaction is probably one of my favorites. It's been a few years since I've watched it because I don't want to burn out on it. The scene where Murphy runs out of the house toward her dad when he's about to leave Earth makes me choke up everytime, same when she tells him it's her birthday.

For me, at Murph's line of "And today I'm the same age you were when you left," I thought to myself, "Hey, why are my eyes watering down my nose??" Because... I was trying to eat a salad during that whole infamous scene (and I can get really into my food), so I didn't even fully consciously realize that scene was starting to play with my emotions lol.

One of my favorite lines in the movie was when Coop was trying to comfort Romilly with his fear of space and how they only have millimeters of Aluminum preventing them from dying, Coop says “we’re explorers, Rom. This is our boat.” and then gives him his headphones playing nature sounds, grounding him to Earth. This film along with the soundtrack is a perfect representation of the beauty and darkness of space, and how it is so rare to find a planet sustainable for life. We’re truly lucky to be on this perfect planet 🌎

One thing I wish people realized is how easy it is for one to do what Matt Damon did. He knew right away his planet was uninhabitable, that he was alone and would die. Its our basic human instinct to want to survive. He lied about his planet so they would come for him, go to the right planet, and start the new colony (since he knew Earth was doomed and Plan B was the only option). So he wouldn't be alone. Selfish? Yes absolutely. But human. Now I'll never know what I would have done, but he took the easy way out by lying. I also wish people would understand that when Coop detached he knew he was going into the black hole, he knew he would die, people think he was just drifting in space. He accepted he wouldn't see his daughter again. Except he fell into the tesseract which by our understanding of physics is impossible. So imagine accepting death only to see that. But I guess most people don't know the fundamentals of a black hole. Just incredible writing nonetheless.

The people talking at the beginning, other than the old version of Murphy, actually were from a documentary. They are actually clips from the Ken Burns documentary on the American Dust Bowl so they are not actors and actually lived through what they are describing.

This is one of the most mind bendingly cool and gut wrenchingly sad movies that I've ever seen. It might be the sleep, but it also might just be the movie. I just sat there through all the credits, then after the screen turned black, just thinking and thinking about all of it, just dumbstruck. It's a whole different kind of movie. There are plenty of really fucking good movies out there, and this ranks among the best of them for me. I'm so bummed I didn't see it when it dropped in theaters, I first watched it about 4 or 5 years later, and I've watched it approximately once a year since then. It's never again your *first time* watching this masterpiece, but it's always just as enjoyable

Possibly the best science-fiction movie of all time. I’ve seen it three times. Most recently last summer, when I showed it to my scientifically brilliant daughter (she’s in college on a full scholarship) and told her I imagine us as Cooper and Murph. Mackenzie Foy (young Murph), Jessica Chastain (adult Murph), and Ellen Burstyn (old Murph) is the most extraordinary casting achievement ever, I think. Their facial structure is so similar, I totally believe it is the same person. Burstyn, by the way, won an Oscar for Best Actress back in the 70s and has won a Tony and Emmy too.

This movie as considered by actual astronauts and NASA astrophysicists as the most accurate vision of a black hole ever put on film. In fact it is now the standard visual used in any documentary about black holes. It took something like 2 years to render all of the mathematical data to create the visual simulation of the black hole Gargantua in this movie. If you actually read this review of your review check out anything you can about a hypercube, which is how our eyes would see a fifth dimensional cube. A hypercube or 'tesseract' is what he is trapped in at the end of the movie. Totally mind-bending and incredible. We actually have two photographs of black holes or the shadows of black holes now. It's so trippy that we can't actually see black holes, but we CAN see the shadow it casts on the light that is behind it.

What's interesting about the water planet is that Brand sees the incoming wave when she first exits the craft, though far off. If one pauses what she sees, zooms in and goes forward frame by frame, you'll be able to tell that its both a giant wave and moving towards them.

Until earlier this year I only saw it once after it came out. the first time I watched it I remember it being good but also just a little confused cause I was trying to grasp everting going on. Once I watched it again all the way through it hit me like a ton of bricks and blew me away with amazement, always tear up every time on the years of messages scene and Cooper in the tesseract trying to tell himself to stay. I’ve watched it 15-20 times this year never gets old and I pick up on something new every time. From the storyline, cast, visuals, and legendary soundtrack from Hans Zimmer, this movie is a masterpiece and one of the best films of all time.

15:40 Yes, it’s something I would do. When I was a teenager, I was determined to be an astronaut. I intended to go into the Air Force (either the academy or ROTC) and then apply for the astronaut program. I ended up changing my mind and deciding I didn’t want to join the military and that I’d try to get to space as a scientist instead. I got a degree in astronomy and worked in that field for awhile, but I never went to space. Now I teach math and science to kids, which I love. I would still definitely go to space if I get the chance. ⭐️
