Christopher Nolan does it again with the time-centered, astronomical drama that is Interstellar (2014). Finally, I get to see what that piano piece I love playing so much is for. This movie broke my heart....so come watch it with me. FIRST TIME REACTION!!

Wow, I'd NEVER caught on to the fact that the Endurance looks like a clock spinning (it even has 12 modules)! And in a movie so focused on time, it's such an obvious connection. Great reaction and discussion as always! :)

I loved your reaction. You are smart, you understand a lot of things. Your reactions to what you see are very genuine and not forced. You don't do stupid meme additions to your content (please keep it that way!) You earned a subscription almost immediately from me. Please keep your format the way it is. It's very refreshing

I think the thing that gives me the most chills in a sad way, was the fate of Edmunds. A lot of people overlook this in their first few watches, but Edmunds was on his planet for about 80 years. The closing portion of this movie makes it VERY easy to forget that there are two time skips; Millers Planet - 23 years The Gargantua Gravity Assist - 51 years If the Lazarus mission trajectories were similar to the calculations of the Endurance trajectory, it would have been about 3-4 years of total travel time for Edmunds to arrive on his planet. Which means that at the beginning of this film, Edmunds had been there for about 6 years already. This has haunted me for years. Especially since his planet is habitable. We see Dr. Brand breathe the air on Edmunds planet at the end of the movie. This tells me that there wasn't a need for a lot the critical life support systems that we see Dr. Mann use, which means it is highly probable that Edmunds was able to stretch his mission far beyond what Dr Mann was able to. Let's not forget that Dr. Mann was on his planet for about 35 years. Although he was in hypersleep for most of that. I would also imagine that Edmunds would have had long bouts of hypersleep as well. This means, that the reason Edmunds stopped transmitting was most likely a transmitter failure. I think that he was almost certainly alive when Cooper decided to go to Mann's planet instead. Just imagine that, being alone on a planet, for 80 years. Dr. Mann said that no man had been tested the way he was. But that's not true. Edmunds waited for 80 years for someone, or something, all the way to the end. He most likely died of natural causes. Not going to Edmunds planet instead of Mann's was Cooper's biggest blunder.

not hard to forget the time slips when we literally hear old Murph talking when the movie is closing out. but yeah i thought the same shit when I saw her burying him - i just said "ouch, thats fucked. i wonder how long he waited"

It's not a blunder if the lead astronaut making the decision is in love with the other one there. It's a conflict of interest and a blinding of judgement. And they're dealing with the future extinction of the species and he's supposed to just take a leap of faith with it? He went for the best option he had at the time and the only reason it was a wrong call is because Dr. Mann lied to them.

If they went to Edmunds planet 1st instead of Dr Mann’s……the circumstances leading to TARS getting the quantum data from the black hole would not have happened. Then what? I think Edmunds & Romilly were 2 unsung heroes in this masterpiece of a movie.

@@JoshuaDay0550 Edmunds died in a rock slide as shown at the end of the movie when we see his ship partially buried. That's why he stopped transmitting.

You're one of the only reactions that've caught on to Matthew McConaughey's son's first child not surviving. Okay finished it all. You had an amazing reaction. "Solving gravity" meant being able to make antigravity engines and mastering artificial gravity, which means they could make many space stations to get everyone off Earth in time. Murphy came from another station, so we know there are multiple. All of the space stations are moving towards the wormhole so they can go to the new planet Brand is on, which is how they found him floating in space on the Saturn side. Glad I subbed and keep up the great vids! Also, really enjoying your reactions to Pitch Meeting.

No matter how many reactions i watch, after watching the actual movie 3 or 4 times, it always makes me really emotional. Nolan is such a freaking legend, plus all the research he did for this movie is insaaaane. Fantastic reaction. This was my forst reaction of yours i've watched and i enjoyed it. Another "space" movie that is excellent as well, in the sense of making viewers emotional but in a great way is 'Arrival'. I hope you watch n react to it. Great job

Okra? Try the southern fried okra at Cowgirl in the West Village. I'm a lover of this from my Texas-bred childhood (actually I love everything in that restaurant). This is an amazing film and Zimmer's score is probably my favorite of his. Another excellent, intelligent reaction. By the way, if you haven't seen it, you should do a reaction to Kubricks 2001: A Space Odyssey, which makes an amazing use of classical and contemporary music - including some of Ligeti's amazing and cacophonous work.

The shot of Cooper staring into space at the end gives me chills… As for Mann.. don’t be angry. The all-being of all that exists set the events in Coops timeline in motion before they even happened, Mann had no control his fate was set, in the end it was the only way… maybe we are alone….

There are several lists of the books on the bookshelves... most have to do with time and time travel. The best list I have found is on the Nolan Fans Forum "Murph's Bookcase - What's in It?" I am not a sci-fi nerd (though absolutely adore this movie! I have the ticking clock as my Notification sound), but leapt and squealed seeing Diana Gabaldon's _Outlander_ on the shelf. Glad I wasn't in the theater at the time! _Intersteller_ is coming out on IMAX on September 27, 2024 around the country. It will be the movies' 10th anniversary. I will be there!

Recently scienctists have done new calculations that backed up older mathematical calculations which theorized light particles can travel backwards through space-time just as much as forwards. I don't understand that high level math myself (only got to basic trig & precalculus in high school) but the video I saw summed up the work as scientists now considering it basically proven by math though we have no way to observe it yet. It's very hard for scientists to claim something as proven 100% if there's no way to test it, but they are saying the math has been double & triple checked against all known physics laws. They aren't saying we're anywhere close to sending any thing back in time (certainly not people, that may never happen) but individual light particles can move backwards through time. Kinda freaky to think about.
