I'm a 38 years old man, and I'm literally crying each time I listen to this - my eyes are wet while I'm typing this. My life was literally falling into black hole when Interstellar came out - so Cooper's words "you gotta leave something behind" were the advice I needed to hear there and then.

This scene has a very deep meaning if you think about it. Brand was like the represent of the future of the mankind and at that point (with zero fuel left) it is the final moment for Cooper to decide, whether or not to go with Brand and leave everything behind, including his daughter. But he chose not to go. I think deeply he thought about the possibility of going back in time to see his child again (even though the chance would be near zero theoretically). He literally sent the mankind forward and decided to “STAY” , to keep his promise he gave to Murph long ago. Man that’s what the true love a father could ever give to his child. 😢

It's reinforced when you analyze the soundtrack of Stay. Detach is based on that one. Brand doesn't want Cooper to leave, but he does again. He sacrifices for something bigger than his life.

This movie was absolutely a huge hit for me back in theaters when I watched it for the first time. When Cooper detached from the ship in an attempt to see Murph again, my heart suddenly dropped and I began to cry. I will never ever not recommend this movie to anyone who deeply enjoys space movies as much as I do. ❤❤❤

@@shubhamwrI think deeply he thought about possibility of that idea. He even mentioned it to Brand (on Miller’s planet) about jumping into the blackhole and going back in time. He probably thought Murph was long gone by that time too, thus that was the only choice for him I think.

@@Benzmusics9 yeah everyone knew time gets slowed near blackhole... But how can someone have any clue that they can actually survive fall to actually being alive to experience going back in time? In fact time dilation would have been so extreme that for few second inside blackhole, millions of years would have passed on earth. If it wasn't for aliens/future humans who created tesseract to catch him and throw him back in appropriate time frame, even if he had somehow survived murph would have been dead literally millions of years ago

@@shubhamwr I think he knew those concept well. But yet no one (including himself) knows exactly what’s at the singularity and anything is possible by then. But yeah I agree with you that he must be dead from sphagetttification before reaching singularity. (They said that Gaugantua is super massive black hole and thus has low tidal force. Thus he could survive even after crossing the event horizon but NOT right at the singularity for sure).
