Interstellar Radio eurorack module demo

yeah that is really why I got into modular to make weird noises for a soundtrack project. So far exceeding my expectations in spite of the high cost of entry.

I've been obsessed with this module since I first found out about it. My system is all DIY, so I racked my brain trying to design my own. I assumed it used a pair of CD4046s, but I couldn't figure out how to make all the connections square with the block diagrams and I/O descriptions. Then I saw a picture of the pcb and realized it uses an additional pair of clocked VCOs and it all came together. I drew up a partial schematic, and I'm pretty sure it was accurate, minus decoupling caps, resistor values, etc. Was going to lay it out on perfboard (!) at which point I was like "geez, I could work a second job for minimum wage and be able to just buy one waaaaay faster than designing and building my own." So I bought one. It should arrive soon, and I'm curious to see how close I got with my guesswork. I'm not gonna try and clone it or anything. I just wanted it in my rack. Hopefully it doesn't get lonely as the only module I didn't build myself. I may have to buy a few more Schlappi modules to keep it company. Great work.

I could listen to this all day. I'm imagining getting a delay and a stereo field involved, and a bunch of weed, and this module. I don't even need a modulation source. I would just sit in front of it turning knobs all day. I guess I need to buy one.... even though I just bought a 100 grit 2 days ago. Dammit. I'm going to end up with an entire Schlappi system. I just know it.

Thank you for helping me produce sounds that remind me of old CB static and squelching. Very unique. Some of bass tones that jump out of this thing are crazy. Very touchy sometimes :) Sounds amazing through the 100 Grit as well. I love watching your tech talks man...very informative. Keep the unique designs coming.

This is one of them modules one can spend hours with but damn well shouldn't! I know if I ever got this I'd probably not be able to hear for a week after first patching it. It's like chiptunes on crack, I'm so intrigued.

Can you please explain the types in more detail? i noticed on type 2 there are silence spots and it just got me curious exactly what each one is, and what the cause of silence is on a technical level TYPE: Sets the type of PLL tracking loop used to recover the signal on the DEMODULATOR side. Changes the character of the effect.

I'm curious as to what type of pll tracking loops are used in the 3 modes of the type switch, or how it works. I can't find any information anywhere. Doepfer makes a PLL module that has 3 different modes, but it uses it's own system for comparing, and I am not sure if it works in the same way. This is a really cool module with a lot of neat features, and for a number of reasons, including generating noise, this module is really great to have+it also looks really cool. Edit: nvm, I found out how it works from the quick start pdf. I bought mine used and I guess the person I got it from only included one of the sheets that came with it or something idk.

thanks!! It is analog (well, CMOS chips, analog square waves, phase locking loops tend to live in a grey area, but if you are asking if there are any microcontrolllers inside the answer is no)
