INTERVIEW | 15 questions with "JINJER"

We met Tatiana and Eugene from the Ukrainian Metal band JINJER at Cult Nürnberg. On May 19th we had a nice chat outside the venue. Besides their current tour “Against The Stream” we talked about life on the road (yep, the van does work right now), difficulties when being a full-time musician and songwriting in general. JINJER doesn’t want to be called a “female fronted Metal band”, this term seems to be very difficult for the band. Despite musical skills Tatiana doesn’t want to be cut down to her appearance. Most important for them is to work hard on their instruments and play great shows. This outlines also an important advice for young bands: Work hard to improve your skills, be a Rockstar later. In 2017 JINJER will continue touring - besides that they already created ideas for the next album.

Blake I met the band last month in Centurion. South Africa 🇿🇦 Possibly the best live band I’ve ever seen. Eugene & the rest of the guys are super friendly...Tatiana was extremely different to onstage persona & was extremely shy at the meet & greet. It was like she didn’t want to be there.

'Appearances can be deceiving'.... Is what I think she was trying to convey around 16:30. She tries avoiding dressing and appearing too feminine because she doesn't want it to take away from the music.... And anyway, looks can be deceiving. Bless her soul.... I don't really see the word femininity as a synonym for sexiness which is where she was going. Yeah I foresaw that happening when I saw their tour schedule. At the time I remember thinking, there’s a burnout waiting to happen. And Tatyana looks pretty worn here. I hope they get some rest and schedule their next tour with a little more down time between dates. I’d kinda like to see these guys and girl stay together for awhile.
