I think very highly of Bauckham, I have read 7 of his books so far and listened to many hours online. Accordingly, knowing him as a very careful thinker, I was surprised and actually disappointed to hear his take on the biblical view on homosexuality as it is so obviously false. "For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error." (Romans 1:26-27)

When it comes to the gay question, Voddie is by far the better Baucham on this. Also check out James white’s debates on this. Jesus was clear, God made them make and female and foe this reason they shall Leave their father and mother and be joined together.

Thank you for a very interesting interview. It seemed like Dr. Bauckham was dodging the very last question about how strong is his faith. If you really believed the claims of Jesus, wouldn’t you have to take a bullet if the alternative was to deny the truth of those claims? I suppose one can’t know for sure how they would behave in that situation but he seemed to not want to go there.
