"When the Lord came that's when I realized that it wasn't just my sexuality that was the problem it was my ENTIRE HEART. One of the dangers in the way in which we engage with people who are same sex attracted is we've centered our evangelism around sexuality instead of around personhood. We preach the gospel to a section of the person as if that's all that God has beef with or as if that's all that God wants to make whole." SO PROFOUND. Jackie Hill Perry is very wise and witty and full of the Holy Spirit, she has a heart for the Lord and for His people and her ministry is so absolutely demonstrative of the love God has for not only His people but for the lost, confused and downtrodden. My biggest takeaway from this interview and from her new book is that God wants to save us wholly and completely. Thank Wade-O and thanks Jackie Hill Perry.

It’s not that the “focus” is on sexuality, Many Christians don’t understand the seriousness of sexual sin/immorality IN GENERAL, whether it’s pertaining to fornication, adultery, bestiality, or homosexuality. The Bible says that when you engage in fornication you sin against your own body. I don’t think we understand what that means on a SPIRITUAL level, all we know is it’s a sin. Many Christians have NO IDEA what spiritual“portals” they open up when they engage in sexual sin. It’s literally a way for “7 more to enter in” if you know what I mean (Matt 12:45; Luke 11:26). We’ve been so desensitized to sexual sin that we have a warped perception of it, and we view it as “what’s the big deal, it’s human nature, etc.” COMPLETELY IGNORING GOD’S PURPOSE AND INTENT FOR IT. I feel if more leaders could teach and expound on sexual sin, not just on a basic level but also on a spiritual level so that people would be INFORMED about the “WHY” of it all, people may respond, behave, etc. differently. That’s not to say people won’t still make poor choices and choose to engage anyhow, but many may think twice! And have an understanding of why they’re choosing to be careful instead of nonchalant when it comes to sexual sin.

opinionatorX just for clarification, is this a rhetorical question or are you truly inquiring? I am in my early 30s and teach in the school system. Things are even different from when I was in school. The youth now are dealing with adult problems that they shouldn’t have to deal with. They also have access to so many things that cause them to learn things that are false or inaccurate. Many churches are now understanding this and creating spaces where youth are unafraid to share their experiences and struggles without being judged. This does not mean they are condoning sin, but they are willing to start the dialogue so they feel safe enough to share. However, there are other churches that condemn before the youth are even comfortable talking about their struggles... this leads them to depart from the church.

@Çerastes Christian means you have declared Christ as your personal savior. You being perfect and holy is a continual process. To say you cannot be a Christian and gay is akin to saying you cannot be a Christian and a fornication. Christian and have lost. Christian and an adulterer. A Christian and have wrath. A christian and a liar. A Christian and have pride. All these things Paul says we must continue to push ourselves to be better and more Christ like. And this is from securely straight and married Christian. The hypocrisy that exist. We focus on sexuality and drop the rest of the person as if sexuality is the only sin that God mentions. 😒
@jadenspare
@jadenspare 3 жыл бұрын
@@LadybeetleMaddox exactly. people don't realise that we have all failed God's standard of perfection by sinning. which is why whether someone is a christian or not is not determined by their works but by who their trust is in for salvation, and why we can't be saved by works only by trusting in what Christ did on the cross to take our punishment.

@@jadenspare We are to never stop striving to do what is righteous and holy. Grace is not a license to keep sinning. Also, you will be judged by your works and the fruit it bears. I don’t understand what many so-called Christians finding unbearable by striving to live a holy and sanctified life.

I skipped to the part where she talked about her experience at Harvard because I was there for the entire thing + I often wondered if she ever spoke about it. You could definitely feel the tension in the room + so many students that I recognized from the department that I work in on campus did have a hard time accepting Jackie. I don't think she knows the behind the scenes of the event, but I'll say that I think the anger that was displayed that night wasn't just because Jackie Hill-Perry was speaking on homosexuality (although it largely had to do with it). I'll also say that as hard as it may have been for Jackie to hold space there, I know many people (staff, graduate students + undergraduates) who had respectful + meaningful dialog after this event about the topic at hand (to include myself). I inboxed Jackie on Instagram a couple of days after the event to see if she wanted the 20 minutes of video that I have from that night but sis left my message on "seen" lol 🤷🏽‍♀️. I just hope she knows that not everybody was against her that night + in fact, some relate deeply to her testimony. I look forward to watching this video in its entirety!

Did Jackie ever get back to you? Sometimes there aren't enough hours in the day to do all things you want. I've left things as "SEEN" (laughs) when it really was my intention to engage. Just so much to do sometimes.

@@trenton9 I'm so late responding to this but no, Jackie never got back to me. I agree, so much can happen + we can easily forget about those messages we hoped to get to. I love how you guys explained the concept of sexuality in our culture today. It opened my eyes as well. When Jackie said that we center The Gospel around a “loud sin” because it’s in our face was really good. God never came to the earth for a part of us that was sinful, but for us in totality. Our entire being. Without love, we will never grasp that concept. Surrendering sexuality is such a harsh topic because it involves giving what feels good to us, or a sense of entitlement to gain what God already supplied. Great message.

You are even getting better at that. Do you even have notes? I just love to hear Jackie Hill Perry speak. Her album is great and I can't wait to read the book. Thank you for not giving away the good parts, I was almost mad at you for a second. The set looks great and professional. I loved the interview but the part that hit me is the one when you guys address J Givens. Her using her name and making us see him as a human with feelings and not just as an artist that we own because we own his music really helps realize how harmful we can be with our words. Most people wouldn't even say half of what they say on twitter to his face. I would love to have a weekly interview from you but if the content can be that good, I can wait longer. May you and your family be blessed my man, and keep working for the Lord, whether in your music ministry or in all the other ones you have going.

The Wade - O Show/Jackie Hill- Perry,,, Great interview,,, regarding Harvard,,, Thank you for facing these People and bringing the Gospel... So many of our young people have been deceived into thinking wrong thoughts about our existence and about our sexuality,,,, truth be told, our wrong choices on either, holds consequences for our future and our destiny before our Creator who is the very ESSENCE of righteousness... The enemy of our souls wants to deceive us. He wants to lead us in paths that would alter our God given destiny in a significant way,,, bringing destruction rather than blessings and the life our AbbaYah so lovingly wants to give us... There is a counterfeit to every good thing Yah has for us.... Two paths, it is easy to choose the wrong path and not know it our whole lives. AbbaYah is so gracious he sends His Word to heal us and restore us before it is too late... In the Bible it says " The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come to bring you LIFE, and that more abundantly,,,, Also Yahusha/Jesus, says I am the Way, the Truth and the Life - no man comes to The Father but through Me... He had to pay a Ransome for Your Sins.... He is the only one Capable of paying it because of His sinless nature,,,, what a gift to us... Thank You Father, for your grace and mercy towards us. Recently Abba Yah sent us a wonderful teaching, It draws us close to Him in relationship... It affords us to get to know Him as Father, as Friend and as Judge,,, Jesus in response to a request,,, Lord teach us how to pray, gave his deciples the Matthew 6, prayer... But low and behold a teaching came to us on how to break the power of Iniquity, sin and transgressions in our lives... It has been a great revelation to the body of Believers who has ears to hear it... "The Courts Of Heaven - Introduction " by Robert Henderson, right here on KZbin. This teaching can break the power of homosexuality, theivery, sexual addiction and any strong hold sin in our lives... Theory being it is traveling in our blood line and coming down the pike to the 3rd and 4th generation... these sins have to be brought to the Courts of Heaven and confessed and repented of with tears before AbbaYah and the Blood of Yahusha applied to them on behalf of our transgressing great, great, great grand parents and our parents, without these prayers it comes down our bloodline to the 3rd and 4 generation... No wonder we are so under attack by the enemy in today's generation... It comes as a series of teachings,,, listen to them here on you tube,,, get deliverance for yourself and your family also your friends bound up in 😈 evil sins,,, Get delivered through the Precious Blood of Yahusha- The Christ. Amen??? amen..

Her book is called Gay Girl, Good God. That was really why we did the interview so those topics were going to be hit. We've done a couple on my podcast before and this one late last year....kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnXTnn2Var9lbpY

Great interviewer and interviewee. @JackieHillPerry has wisdom and understanding beyond her years. I guess I'm nosey and ignorant, but I'm wondering why she and her family made the move to Atlanta other than for the weather???

Don't know her specific reasons....but Atlanta is one of the cultural centers of US right now, especially if we talking black culture. May be number 1 in that space. For creatives like her and Preston, there just may be more opportunities there.
