The fact that he likes abghoosht is a clear indicator he’s picking Iran

The pathway for him is much clearer with TM with Azmoun/ Taremi entering their 30s. He needs to overcome Balogun, Pepi, Jesus Ferreira, Vazquez and Duncan McGuire. Who are all in his age general age range. I wish him the best and hope he picks Iran. Would be great for him to represent Iran his parent's ancestral homeland in his home at the next World Cup.

Team Melli is very toxic for players rn so I would understand if he chose USA instead

Look, he mentions the fear of being cap-tied. I think that is an indication he would prefer playing for the US. He is worried about the vibe. However, Iran should invite him. He is a very talented player and the sooner they cap tie him, the better. Because he will leave his club for a much bigger team. When that happens, USMNT will surely call him up. Get him now, while he is raw and under the radar. I think a big pro for him would be that in Iran he would be a big star. He will get a lot of interviews, and generally there will be a media buzz around him. In the US, not as much. Additionally, he would be our starting striker in the next 2 years no doubt in my mind. Taremi will be out the door by the end of the next WC, and Azmoun will be too most likely considering his weight problems and injury proneness.

I don’t think that’s an indication he’d prefer to play for the USMNT. He hasn’t been to iran in over a decade, of course he’d be a bit nervous about the vibe. Ghoddos said the same thing about Iran. He played with Sweden, and then got called up to Iran and he saw the vibe was good and he liked it. It’s only normal for him to be nervous about the vibe. Hopefully we can call him up and let him see for himself how our players behave. I would’ve been more confident if CQ was still around, but we just gotta wait and see.

Tm camp is full of cliques. Look at the way they treat saman…saman is arguably one of the best players but the guys constantly make “poke” fun at him. Saman is a good lad but after a while it appears like there is a bullying g problem. Also look at how mohebbi is treated by taremi…there are internal issues that stem from a lack of professionalism in Iranian society which is not as prominent in the US (yes the Reyna thing is an exception) GN actually helped curb these problems but still. If I were in this guys shoes I’d say my heart tells me Iran but everything else indicates the US.

lol you nerds clearly never played sports or were on sports teams. Those types of banters will be part of any team full of dudes who hang out with each day and night, you think the US team doesn't have that? @@pasha606

One question I always have as an American with foreign roots: how much does the media portrayal of other countries affect these dual-nationals' decisions? Here in America there is a lot of news that occurred during the Mahsa Amini murder that have clearly portrayed Iran as a villain. there is also the Iran Hostage crisis that was made into an award-winning movie just over a decade ago.
