Interview: Metcalfe Models - your questions answered

Dear Meycalfe models, I was in New Zealand back in January and I travelled on the TranzAlpine express from Christchurch to Greymouth for the first time. What really impressed me was the signal box at Greymouth. It is beautifully preserved and is very like a GWR signal box. As soon as I saw it, it made me think of Meycalfe Models! I think it might make a fine card model for your company as a general signal box. Do take a look at it. New Zealand modellers would like it especially. Charles Foulkes

Thanks for the video guys👍✌️😊 I've asked this before too - "What about reintroducing the 7mm kit range and developing that range too?" With Dapol, Heljan et al with a large range of RTR O gauge locos and stock now, surely the market is ripe for 7mm building kits (perhaps in one of the heavy duty card type products more suited to garage and loft based layouts?). I'd argue that embossed card for stonework and detailed tile/slate roofs would work nicely in 7mm too. 🤞🤞

I can only imagine the dilemma that management have to go through, with a customer base begging for new products, production limitations, whether to expand, extend, or buy new premises, new machinery, or try and cope as you are. And more recently? We have another rising scale/gauge TT, another gap to be filled. I’m not sure how modellers will cope with readily available structures in TT gauge, whether they could use HO scale, having the 0.5mm to the foot discrepancy, whether it would be visible or not, but then, the discrepancy doesn’t seem to bother OO gauge modellers too much.
